2003 honda civic overheating and leaking coolant.
hey guys, I just joined this forum cause im having a lot of issues with my car and I need some insight. Bare with me because I don’t know a lot about cars and im very much an amateur.
Okay so 3 weeks ago today I got a 2003 Honda Civic EX from a coworker. The car drove fine for the first week and just as I got off the highway, my mom told me the car was all the way at H and just like that it started smoking. I brought it to a mechanic and he told me the hose connected to the reservoir disconnected which caused coolant to leak all over everything. He fixed it and sent me on my merry way. 2-3 days later, again, got off the highway and my car started overheating again. I brought it to the mechanic and he told me my thermostat was busted which was causing the leaking and overheating. He switched out the thermostat and sent me on my merry way. Now today, I was on my way back from a friends house and I was at a stoplight and I noticed the gauge was slowly rising but not enough to worry me. I drove a little bit further and the gauge started to climb rapidly. when I pulled off the the side I noticed my car was smoking. I popped the hood and saw that there was coolant EVERYWHERE. and underneath the car. right now im at a loss of words because im just annoyed. Does anyone have an idea what the problem could be?

I know with the normal 01-05 civics it's super common for the head gasket to fail, not sure about the hybrids

If you think a good mechanic is expensive, try hiring a bad one

Mechanic is broken. Replace mechanic.
Sounds like the car has a blown head gasket. Could have more damage too, like damaged radiator from steam erosion.

Hahaha yea I bet. All my electrical issues came after replacing headgasket. OP Make sure you really mount the alternator after headgasket if you change it.
