Need advice 2003 LX ECU

So i bought a 2003 honda civic 2door EX auto trans off of marketplace cheap, i towed it home and i was very sure it had a bad ECM, i ordered a used ECM off of Ebay with the same matching numbers and received the key imobilizer with it as well, that fixed the poor running condition, now i have an issue with it wanting to cut out bad around 40mph, or in park when the rpms reach around 2500, i am now sure that the engine was replaced with a non Vtec engine, could the ECM be thinking that the engine is a Vtec and causing a timing issue? and how can i fix this if this is the problem, thanks in advance for any help that you might offer.

Re: Need advice please

Do you know if that ECU came from a 2004-2005 civic? If so, one of your problems may lie there.

Re: Need advice please

either of those
1 - you will need a non-EX or non-Si ECU
2 - you can install an EX engine head

mind you, the 04/05 have a wideband o2 sensor, 01-03 uses a narrow band
