Engine noise began getting louder last week. I found that my exhaust pipe was cracking where it comes out of the catalytic converter. I tried repairing it with JB weld extreme heat, but it didn't work at all. The paste didn't dry at all.
I was wondering what the best fix it? Also, my inspection is due in 1 month. Do I need a whole new CAT? Is this able to be welded? I'm thinking of just putting exhaust tape on until I figure out what to do. It is getting very loud!
Also, my exhaust pipe is a single pipe and not sectioned off like I have seen for EX repair videos. My car is an 2001 EX. How does this this change the situation?(see last pic)

If possible, sure. If not, that's why I say send it to an exhaust shop. They are gonna have literally everything they need right there on-hand to make a viable repair.on just about any exhaust system that comes through their doors. From a little chop n patch welderup job like you need, to fabricating complete custom systems from scratch.
At my shop I would tell you to take it to an exhaust shop. Unless you want to spend a lot of money
