02 civic cat conv & exhaust manifold
02 civic cat conv & exhaust manifold
Hello all, I have a 02 civic ex coupe with around 170k on it. I have had a light going on and off for down stream oxygen sensor...found small little leak between flange of cat and down pipe. I was debating of replacing the cat and exhaust system as well as the exhaust manifold due to the corrosion...figured would cause a problem in the future. My question is when looking for replacement parts seem to be finding more manifolds with built in cats...feel like the OEM is not one with a built in cat...my question is...if i were to purchase a new one would it be smarter to get the built in cat one and than not have to worry about replacing the cat down stream and then replace the rest of the exhaust system? Or should I try to keep it the way it is...trying to not dump to much money into the car due to it being older.
Re: 02 civic cat conv & exhaust manifold
The EX uses a header and a separate cat.
If you convert the car to the header with cat, you will need to extend the downstream sensor connector to reach the new location at the front of the car.
