Hi. 2001 Civic EX. Looks like one of the instrument cluster bulbs is out, and the shifter console bulb is out.
How do i get at the shifter bulb?
Should I use OEM, or LED's, as I see kits out there?

get a haynes manual (most parts store carry them)
some recent posts around also discussing/explaining the process
DIY section had some too (don't ask questions on the DIY section, they are to guide you initially, would be difficult to find any useful information in there if it was cluttered with unsolved questions.)

OEM lasts forever, just need to remove the center console, probably a dozen screws and some clips.
if you find a stereo install article/video they usually show them removing the center console

I used to work for a company that repaired gauge clusters and I vaguely remember the ones from the Civics...
However, if it's one of the gear selection bulbs then those can be replaced. They should be Neo-wedge style bulbs and can be swapped. So if your 'D' or 'P' light is out, you can swap it for one you don't use often like the '3' or '2' bulb. Otherwise, you can find a pack of replacements on eBay or something.
