Instead of a 5, I'd look into a MP3. Beautiful car! Or even the new Mazdaspeed Protege. I dunno the price though, but it shouldn't be too bad.

Look for a used Mp3 or go for the new MS protege. But otherwise, definately go for a Pro5. I 'm the only Pro 5 owner on this board i think and it's definiately a much better bang for your buck. Power everything, 4wheel disc, abs, remote keyless, 16" rims with excellent dunlop 5000 all seasons, nice white gauges, doesn't ride like an SUV (matrix) and decent if not more power than the Civic. Has 130hp 135lbs torque at 4000rpm. Handling is superb, way better than the civic. I got mine for just over $20,000K CAD, got the dealer to take off the frieght and pdi ($1000) and throw in window tinting and wheel locks. My only option was a/C. PM me if u have more questions about it.

nice price u got it for...so u saved around $2000 off of msrp eh?
icbc hasn't told me how they'll pay me yet...we have the option of taking a brand new LX coupe but parents don't want it....

parents also said no more sport coupes or fun cars....

i was hoping they wouldn't know the protege5 = fun car..lol

i don't want a mp3...i think it's just ugly...it's got some torque and power but i don't really need that either....

right now, i just need something that looks decent...lol...(and isn't the base rav4 parents want to buy)

also, how readily available are those 2002 models? when will they be totally cleared out? that's the one i'll want to go for since parents won't like autostick...

i gotta find one to hook up wit cause i need a sales guy to convince my parents that protege5 is not meant to be sporty but the 4wheel discs are for safety...lol

ya hes a salesmes, really nice too. Thats why i recommend him.
in actually cost, noodleboy got about 1000 off.
if u buy a 2002, which are becoming very rare now, you coudl probably get the same type of deal or better
onyl problem is that 2002 p5's with just a/c are very very very RARE
most come loaded (a/c, auto, moonroof) and the list price is about 23,800 for one including frieght/pdi and stuff
if u want one that is loaded, i can get you about 1000 or maybe more off one of those.
pm me or call sean.
or even come on in to the dealership on the weekend. ill be working
gl finding a new car.

Yea, it's true the ones with JUST a/c are rare, but i'm sure they can just order it in for you.
yea, so i got just under 2grand off MSRP, which is okay and some stuff thrown in there. The
P5's are pretty available now tho, including the 2003 ones. Just tell your parents it's a room car
with 4 wheel discs and ABS and safe.

Btw, tell you parents the insurance on the P5 is also about $200 cheaper than the Civic. That's
another reason i bought my P5.

I'm waiting on delivery actually for my new Mazdaspeed.

you can't really order in any 2002's but you can order a 2003 if the dealership doesnt have exactly what you want.
only problem is, ordering directly from the factory takes 3 months, which is a long time to wait for a car.
anyway, it's up to you

hey guys i don't need A/C....

i'm happy with the base model Protege5...(and has to have automatic tranny...preferably without shift gates cause parents will think the car's too sporty if they see the shift gates...)

i'd rather have a base Protege5 than a corolla or Rav4....

anyways, another option is another Honda Civic LX coupe if the dealer can find one with ABS brakes....

right now, parents don't really want to get the protege5 either...it's all about cost...they don't want to spend so much for a compact size car...so if u are able to get me a midnight blue protege5 w/ automatic tranny at $2000cdn below MSRP, gimme a holla...else i guess i'll end up with rav4 or corolla or maybe even another 7th gen LX coupe...(depends on how ICBC will do the payout)

alright, i'll call him when icbc finalizes on how they'll pay us out....

if they're only gonna give us back exactly our purchase price of the civic coupe LX, then there's no way parents will pay the extra cost of a protege5...

i think i should wait until they tell us our options first...dont' want to get excited over nothing...

icbc called today..they told me that they'll pay us what we paid for the civic LX but they later phoned my dad...my dad said they agreed to pay us MSRP of the civic...let's hope my dad didn't hear wrong...we're picking up the cheque and my civic floor mats tomorow....

parents said no more civics...we've taken a look at what's on the Toyota lot...I prefer not buying a Corolla or Matrix...I've sat in a Matrix today...feels just like a corolla(i guess that's why it's called corolla matrix..hehe)...told parents i don't like matrix or corolla...will be looking at protege5 tomorow...hoping parents will like it...

does anyone know how much an Accord LX automatic sedan costs? base model is $24850 msrp for a 02 automatic....anyone think it's possible to get it for around $22,000? I know $23,000 is possible...

we won't be looking into lancer or aerio.....they're too ugly....ewww.....i'd rather go for corolla than those...

i think aerio is cute

Anyway, I am almost 90% sure ur parent will like pro5. My mom likes it alot, maybe more than the civic. The only reason we didn't get it was the pro5 just got out and dealer wont lower the price + my mom wants the yellow colour

for the accord, a friend of mom got an accord for 1000 more than the si so about $23k. and since 03's are coming out. it's worth a try!!

damn, i hit up the dealerships today and went for test drives...

i tried a pro5 and a base accord....

there was only 1 blue pro5 w/ auto and moonroof...there was scratches all over the car and 100+km on the odometer already....my dad low balled Francis cause Francis tried to trick us into signing for the MSRP price purchase...

on the other hand, we we took a look at the accords...they were pretty nice....we talked and talked for a pretty long time with the same sales guy who sold me the civic......i negotiated a spectacular deal on a 4 dr sedan but it was silver and no other colors left...the sales guy was really nice but the manager wouldn't budge on the price...sales guy wanted to sell the car and agreed to let me talk to the manager...manager finally agreed to sell us the car but they were unable to locate the same accord in eternal blue...oh well, maybe now parents will realize the civic was the best bang for the buck...hope they let me have another LX coupe...

pro5 is not a hatchback, it's a wagon!!

As for Si-G, it's great! And the price is cheaper now than 1 or 2 year ago

pro5 doesn't look so bad but seem kinda expensive and a tad bit small compared to civics....

not very much trunk space in a pro5...

pro5 is a small wagon with a hatch....what's the diff? anyone who hits above the bumper can seriously injure passengers in rear seats...(not that i intend to haul around peeps all day though...)

on the civic, there's that larger trunk too...

anyways, anyone know what are the crash test ratings on a protege5? i wasn't able to find any....

Calling the Pro 5 a wagon doesn't do it justice. Of all 5 door "wagons" the pro 5 looks the sportiest and a lot nicer than the civics IMO. I'll call mine a sport's hatch thanks. In terms of luggage cappacity, accord to edmunds, the Civic lx coupe has 12.9 Cu. Ft of space while the Pro 5 has 19.8 cu.ft. ( this is trunk space.) You do know that flat piece that lifts up on the back of the Pro 5 has be taken right out and the hatch is just one bigass space. This plus given the rear seats folded right back gives it a lot more room.

i don't consider that space above that piece that lifts up....there's windows all around and anything heavy can possibly break the glass.....throw a sub into the pro5 trunk and there isn' very much usable space left...

anyways, pro5 does look good....i just prefer driving a civic...

just curious but where are the rear speakers in the pro5? i didn't see them on the rear deck...are they on the doors? i hate speakers that are mounted on doors..they often won't pound as hard...

Did you know that piece can slide RIGHT out of the car? Once that piece is out, that space is huge man! 19+ cu.ft vs your civics 12.9 cu ft... that's a lot of space. Not to mention with that piece taken out and the seats folded back it's just ONE huge *** space.

Not to mention with that piece taken out and the seats folded back it's just ONE huge *** space.
yes, i understand it's removable...hatchbacks let u cary huge items in the back but u still gotta be careful about knocking out one of the windows...u can't just stick anything in the back....btw, civics also have folding seats so no biggie if i can't stuff everything into the trunk....also, what if u have something expensive that u wanna leave in the car? u can stick it into the trunk but if someone breaks into your car, they still have access to the trunk...on civics, you can lock out the trunk...

anyways, i still think protege5 is a really nice car....it's a lil expensive but it looks really nice inside and out....

i think regular protege sucks though....a friend has a 99 model.....looks too much like a corolla(inside and out)...engine is reliable but interior is cheap....everything rattles when speakers are turned up....
