that's STUPID!! They can't take any joke about their country... I like them for being so loyal and patriotic but I hate then for thinking that USA is the only country in this planet. Some of them actually (seriously) think that we Canadians live in Igloos and shiet! WTF???

For starters, some of the MEMBERS wanted to ban him... not the moderators. You are all going off the ASSUMPTION that we should have known the thread was a joke. Since a LOT of people on that forum did NOT take it that way, it's very obvious that more should have been stated in the thread to say as such. And as for free speech.... this forum is a PRIVATELY OWNED forum. We have the right to moderate and censor any material in it. I also find it ironic that one says "ha.. whatever happened to freedom of speech" and then you bash on the US and it's government, which is exactly where the free speech comes from. That's being hypocritical, don't you think?

Since that thread started a LOT of problems, and was obviously not taken as a joke, we DID warn for such actions, and if people want to start threads like that, which cause trouble, they will not be tolerated. This is a private forum, and is moderated as such.

And as for the CONSTANT bashing of the US, do remember this entire forum is based in the US. And the majority of it's members are americans. I must say I did NOT see ANY threads dedicated to bashing canadians or calling canadians names, such as the "joke" thread or this one. (at least not until AFTER redvic's thread) We will tolerate opinions, even those that differ from ours. And we will tolerate anyone who wants to post here. But if they start trouble threads, REGARDLESS of what opinion they voice, that won't be tolerated.

Had this thread been in any other forum, other than a canada forum, I can see a LOT of problems would have started.

As such, I don't see anything wrong with it. However, I did want to give my opinion, before you all continue to bash us "americans" and our government. Considering this forum server and it's owner are in the US, you may want to be considerate of that.

And for those who want to bash me, and call ME a "******", my suggestion to you is to PM me if you have a problem with something like that. We will NOT tolerate bashing of other members in the forums... PERIOD. Esepcially words as a certain member called me here... consider yourself warned, greg2k1.

I watch and see "ALL"...I have no power trip, nor do I treat members unfairly......the thread was DISRESPECTFUL!!!...period!!!........we(MODS) try to create an environment to satisfy all........Majority here happens to be Americans......so I think it would have been more appropriate to PM'd a mod prior to the post. I personally would have "NEVER" stated such a thread....why????...there's nothing to me that screamed "JOKE"...just DISRESPECT!!..even if roles where reversed bashing your Country!!!

The way Americans make fun of Canadians in this forum...or in this entire site is way way way worst than how Canadian 'disrespect' the Americans. At first I was reading it, I didn't notice anything wrong...I just thought it was a funny joke...coz I have seen something even worst that was posted and it was about the Canadians..and no one goes on and say that was uncall for..or whatever.

I missed the thread..I don't know what went on..but from that initial message..or initial post by ReCivic...I really didn't think it was that bad...it was a joke..that's it....if the Americans have the right to 'Disrespect' or 'joke' about Canada, then the Canadians should be given the right to also.

THe fact is, we canadians don't mind. We don't complain when the Americans 'disgrace' our country and government. We take them as a joke. I mean this thread might not be as bad as the one ReCivic posted....but there are way worse threads about us, I am just too lazy to dig them up.

as for the 'americans should read' thread... it was fine, until some americans said they'd CHEW apart those al-qaida guys in a debate about their beliefs, and someone said "typical american" response. the whole rest of the thread went downhill from there.

Movies and forums are different. You are talking about a place where people can openly talk about things, cars mostly. That's different than going to a movie. I think American's have a very different view on certain things, especially views on Canada.

I was talking to this American and he INSISTED that Toronto only has WHITE (FRENCH) people living here.
I told him "NO, we're diverse and Toronto is a great place that respects all cultures".

he then went on calling me "idiot, there's only whites in Toronto and you don't know what you're talking about". Surprisingly, another American said the exact same thing and said i was wrong.

The simple point in all of this which wasn't getting across at all right from the start is people are way to sensitive and need to laugh a little even when times are cruel and harsh. Even if an american were to post something which hit home with canadians I would laugh. Why not? Second it was an obvious joke and the problem is someone looked at the post and it coming from Canada was enough to start this which in turn got blown completely out of proportion. Obviously this is done and not worth another thought as obvious point was missed by more than enough people..

I was down south when I was 14 and rented a sea doo. This guy at the rental shop says "well you guys right snowmobiles right?"

Yeah buddy right on over to our damn igloos!

not sure how many of you know, but I am Canadian, from Ottawa, living/working in the US. I hear jokes about Canada all the time, but I don't take them seriously. I see it here sometimes too. Anyway, maybe that shouldn't have been posted even tho they weren't his views, just a repost of what was seen/heard on TV. If they only knew how much that show makes fun of ourselves and the Canadian gov't, they might understand. Nobody will be banned for this. Just use common sense next time.

As for personal name bashing, that will not be tolerated.
