GB on G35 coupe
GB on G35 coupe
i saw Roger (Type R Boy) posting that. so far there's 3 ppl in the GB. i want to be the 4th but i dont think i can afford the downpayment and the monthly payment
I was at the dealership talking a manager about the "group buy" we are trying to get going on G35 Coupes LOL. Me Wayne and Dal are considering 2004 models. For sure we get Navigation ($3400 value) free with 3 cars, if we get a couple more we get the fleet price rate.

what is the fleet price rate?

Not sure, since we don't have 5 confirmed cars but I am guessing an additional 2000 off plus free Navi. I am guessing that if we dont take the Navi ($3400 option, dealer installed I beleive so not really worth 3400) we can get over $4000 off still.
Just to make sure ppl understand: even though Navi costs $3400, I dont think it is worth that much to the dealer and therefore if we dont take it I doubt they will take off $3400 cash.....

Roger took one out yesterday and this is his review
So while I was there they happened to have a 6 speed model there, for once..... So I took it for a spin. The car is torquey but is really really lacking in top end power it is quite diff from a BMW or Honda engine. Where a Honda engine (B series) pulls smooth and powerfully to redline and keeps you in the sweet spot after every shift, the VQ35 has american car characteristics. The best power delivery IMO comes from Inline 6 motors such as in BMWs, but I'm not saying that this engine is crap or anything, but it is nothing special, just your typical V6. It makes you want to shift all the time to keep the revs low to take advantage of all the torque.
Accelleration wise my ITR is faster, but the G35 is nicer to drive around town. Once I let it loose on the 407 it was nice that in the overdrive gears (5th and 6th) the car still pulled strong, no need to downshift. It almost had a BMW feel on the highway, ALMOST.
The cars brakes are very very strong, and unlike a honda the ABS does getting excited all the time like it does in my ITR. The Handling is absolutely beautiful, I love RWD, I think I am more of a RWD fan that a 4wd or AWD fan. Only problem is that I heard that the traction can not be turned off completely. It can be turned off for speeds under 80Km/h but I still have to confirm this. I took a couple of corners hard with a salesman with me and the traction kept kicking in. This cars stability almost matches its german competitors in its class.
Wayne,
You have to try it out cause I am positive you wont like the power of the motor cause it is quite weak for spirited driving. The motor, like I said, is quite lacking when compared to a B18C1, or 5. But man the handling is sweet.

Ehhh... good luck with the GB. It won't work!
Nissan has a nasty habbit of under-producing cars the first year. Altimas, Sentras, etc--they all were "sold out" during it's first year in production. They do it to make it seem like a HOT car and to create buzz.
Unfortunately, since the dealerships are not getting enough, there are not enough for everyone. Waiting lists are indeed long, and there are absolutely no discounts whatsoever. Why would they sell for discount, when they can sell it for a full pop?
Even though an eager sales person might want to, it won't be approved by the sales manager, because he wants to maintane the high margin. He'll be slapped by the owner in the face if he discounted a 1st year car (especially one that won Motor Trend's Car of the Year).

You guys are going to group buy a G35?? Whoaaa good luck, those things are expensive, especially the top of the line model ...... I looked into it before I bought my Eclipse - $52,000 MSRP for the top of the line ....... 2dr couple ....they said they would knock it down to $48,000..... ya big difference ...
hmmm interesting....keep in mind this is one mans review.....i test drove this car just last week...at it was a very nice ride....the car was made for luxury and speed.....i think this car is worth every penny...only problem is...there were a few recalls in the first year ....similar to other companies...even HONDA..lol....case and point 01 civics....the list is just as long as VICLX list on the side of his car...jp dude....hehehe...but i think a nice pearl white one will do... in the meantime..all is well..

Well, everybody likes BMWs and Mercedes, but you have to be realistic here.
G35, fully loaded, is $47,000... that is with HID, 6-speed, limited slip, brembo brakes, 18's with performance tires and full aero-package.
To come CLOSE to what G35's option list offers, a BMW 330i coupe must upgrade to M-Sport & Preimum package.. MSRP becomes $60,000.
As for the Mercedes.. CLK500 is out of question ($76,000 BASE.. with another near $10,000 in options). CLK320 is closer, but is vastly out performed. Still, a bottm basement CLK320 still runs $62,000... similarly equipped tilts it closer to $70,000.
G35 coupe, at $47,000 is bargin of a lifetime. Pretege & heritege is not there... but you get value. Just like buying a Hyundai.
