this is a bit scary

this morning at about 6am i went to pick up my girlfriend to bring her to school. i parked my car in her driveway, like always, went inside for about 2 mins then came back out. when i came back outside i didnt see my car in her driveway where i left it. it was across the street. i was like what the heck? somehow my car either rolled back or slid or something down the driveway and across the street. i got inside, the handbreak was up like i always leave it and it was in 1st gear. i have no idea how that happened. i tried parking again in her drive way and i left it to see if it would roll back (me being inside the car of course, just incase it did) and nothing happened. thank god their wasnt someone behind my car when that happened, or a car driving down the street. it was weird as hell. i just did some more tests with my handbreak up and downhill (one that are much steeper than my girlfreinds driveway) to see if it is working properly, and everything seems to be fine. it was just a bit freaky to see my car on the other side of the street when that isnt where i left it.

What the....? That is weird as hell!
Did you have the doors locked? If not, could have somebody been possibly playing a joke on you?
Also, is there any damage to the car when it rolled back down the driveway? The same thing happend to my buddy with his Prelude except he forgot to put the e-brake on. When he came back out... the car was in the middle of the street and the rear bumper had fallen off due to it hitting a tree on the other side of the street.

well, I got my hand brake adjusted at honda. It was 5 clicks and even on small hills, it rolled back.

I have it on 2 clicks right now and it STILL ROLLS back!..... honda definitely didn't do a good job on this part.

once, i'd forgot to put my handbreak on..... it was on a slight hill.

i started walking and for some reason, i decided to look back.

F**K!!!!!!!! my car started rolling backwards.... i ran....... and rannnnnnn, and caught up to it. opened the door and pulled the e/breaks while trying to slam the breaks too.

sigh....... luckily i got to it b4 it hit traffic. that would of been a disaster.

its like 'di suun' (buddha) was watcihng me and told to LOOK! haha

phew

Her driveway wasn't icy was it? It could've been on ice and simply slid down. Or a similar thing happened to a friends Jetta, he put his handbrake on and the car started to roll back about an hour later after leaving it. His girl saw it moving and he took off and jumped in started it and moved it back. VW said that nothing was wrong and they didn't have to adjust anything. Really strange, maybe there is a really strong ghost pushing cars all around Canada

Does everyone leave their car in neutal and just rely on the hand brake?
I always throw it into 3rd after the car is off no matter where I'm parked.
Never had a rolling problem, and even if the hand brake would fail, car would stop because its in gear.
