good car audio store
anyone know of a good (deals) car audio store around Scarborough/Markham/Richmond Hill area?? (other than futureshop?) also... the stock cd player is not a perfect rectangle... so what happens if I were to replace it with a 3rd party cd player unit? wouldn't it "slide" around or have a gap on the sides? (esp the right side, since it's slanted....)

I can never turn down a woman in need of help
Wooman, you CAN buy a plastic piece that will fit around the new deck and flush with the dash...it's made for our cars specifically......this is not totally necessary though, and even without it, the deck will not slide around because it'll be held down with either metal clips or screws....it just looks nicer.....I'll take a pic of my dash when i get home later and post it so you can see what i mean...this plastic piece is purely for aesthetics and runs for around $15...
As for a good sound shop....i wanna ask you what you plan on doing first.....just changing the head unit or installing a whole system with a custom box, etc......
If its just the head unit and some speakers I can do that for you no problem....charge you real cheap too My audio was a DIY and it sounds great....but if you need pieces built for you, then you gotta go to a shop!

i'm not sure where you're located....but i bought my piece and wiring at auto sound design....in markham on hwy 7....
but i think any sound shop should carry it.....just call the shop before you go.....CAN'T be more than $20 though....and you'd have to take out your deck to mount in it.....just warning you now! some modifying or cutting may be necessary as well....

I agree with gusto, it depends on what you're planning to do. Any specific goals/pieces in mind..?
And the kit that you guys are referring to is the Metra kit, (don't get the other one, can't remember how to spell it, Scosche or something like that)
err...and gusto, I think you're trying to pimp a dude...

Audio Magixx.
Has the metra kit that doesn't loose the pocket for our car.
That have a bunch of other good deals there too.
Ask for Derek and tell him you know me.
He'll hook you up nice.

well for gusto's sake lets hope it is a girl..but i doubt it lol...but anyways...future shop or any car audio store does carry the kit for the 7th gen civics...they are about $20 just as Gusto stated above...yeah but keep in mind...when you buy a deck....think about what you want to do with your system...if you are a serious audiophile..then buy a good deck right off the bat...eg...alpine or pioneer..but if you just want better sound and better design than the beautiful deck that our cars come with ..then look to spend around $175 to $250 no more than that..if its just the head unit you are changing....hope this helps..any more questions...just post away!!!

by the way, is that place on hwy7 and main street any good?

np for the help DUDE! hahaha......and Auto Sound Designs pretty good, i bought a deck from there once, but since then i've only bought wires and mounting kits from them....
go there and check out the stuff they have.... they carry Premier, which is the higher end of Pioneer...sweet stuff if you've got the cash

If you are looking for MP3 decks, you should consider Kenwood. They are in their third generation of MP3 decks where most other companies are in their first or second. For example, Pioneer is in their first year and have borrowed the technology that Kenwood used in their first generation MP3 decks.
When you are comparing decks bring an MP3 disc that is pretty full to test out the disc read times and track seek times. You'll probably notice Kenwood also comes out on top. Also, Kenwoods remote controls have a numeric keypad so you can get to say track 134 a lot faster. Other decks you have to keep pressing the next track button till you get to the track you want.
Just some of the few things that I think make kenwood MP3 decks better than some of the other MP3 decks

Where is No. One Sound? I wouldn't mind a loan... he hee... since I could then get a better head unit then if I were to fork out cash up front...
from the posting, I think I'll go with the Kenwood MP3s head units... loading time is a big deal for me... along with quality.... cuz I just head waiting for the next song to come on...
If stunna or flippedout can get me a sweet deal .... that'll be great! also, do they (No. One Sound) have that kit that solves that "slant" gap problem with our civics?

hmmm.
do not get the kenwood mp3 deck
it doesnt fit properly. and i have th metra kit too.
im so pissed im not buying a kenwood again!
unless they fix it. it doesnt lach on properly on da metra kit.
and its not flush ..its more like dipped inside!
but overal the kenwood mp3 player i have last year is pretty good the most i ever waited was like 5 seconds and there is no skipping at all unlike the sony mp3 decks.
but i dont know bout the newer mp3 decks from kenwood ....they might have fixed the problem with the metra kit.
well good luck.
