going to montreal first time for vacation

So I'm going to montreal for the first time with couple of my friends for a winter vacation. We'll be going dec. 11 - dec 15. Does anybody know what a good skiing area would be. and any suggestions on where to go. we're already gonna go to the casino, and underground city. I wanted to know of a good skiing resort mainly. thanks for any help

For a good skiing resort, I'd probably lean and tell you to go up north into Tremblant. But well, there are places in either direction really - just a matter of personal tastes really.

Just to give you some links about some of the ski areas:

Mont Tremblant - http://www.tremblant.ca/index.htm

Mont Saint-Sauveur - http://www.mssi.ca/

Owl's Head - http://www.owlshead.com/

Mont Orford - http://www.orford.com/home.php?sec=1

Mont Bromont - http://www.skibromont.com/en/default.asp

Well it was nice and balmy yesterday at over 10 Celsius (50 Farenheit), helped all our snow and ice around too. But today it dropped to like 5 Celsius max and not expecting it to stay above 0 Celsius (30 Farenheit) past the weekend if that. So, is that really cold? Just think, you have another two weeks about for the temperature to get nice and warm

Tremblant is good.

If your in montreal you MUST have a corned beef sandwhich at Schwartz's its on St. Lurant north of St. Catheranes

if you forget the directions ask ANYONE in montreal, theyll point you in the right direction. If theres a line its worth it!

Thanks for all the suggestions. I'll definitely have to try the corned beef when i'm there. Also is Mount Tremblant far from downtown montreal. That's where we're staying. Also what's the easiest way to get there that's not that expensive. Is there a train or a bus or something. Or do I have to rent a car or go by taxi.

Any ski resort is a trip from Montreal really.. Tremblant is about an hour and a half away. There is a bus service from the airport - don't know the cost, but believe you can find it through Tremblant's webpage. But it would more than likely be cheaper to rent a car in any event. Course you could always go by taxi if you really wanted to.

Most signs are bilingual - French and English.
