from CNN.com
I actually thing that's pretty cool if you ask me. Kudo's for once Bush.
On Wednesday, Bush will travel to Halifax, Nova Scotia, to give a speech, thanking Halifax and other maritime provinces that received tens of thousands of Americans stranded after the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks. More than 200 jetliners heading for the United States were diverted to Canada after the terrorist attacks in New York and Washington. About 7,000 people on 44 planes went to Halifax.
I wonder whats up his sleeve though, cuz supposedly Canada was gonna pay for not backing them in the "war on terror" also known as it is better described, oil... ("operation iraqi liberation" as americans called it).
Haha, I was just going to start a topic about this, but saw this instead. There are so many Anti-Bush posters around campus here at Saint Mary's University it isn't even funny. When I got here there were about 50 people marching down to Pier 21 to protest
Now people have Anti-Anti Bush posters up. It's so stupid, these people that are protesting, the "Halifax Peace Coalition", don't even know what they're protesting for

that's right. If he's actually going there to thank the city of Halifax for it's help during 9/11 then the retard protestors should just stay out of it. Hes not going there to talk about politics or Iraq.

We are supposed to "pay" for not supporting them for the war, i personally find it strange that hes gonna thank us and let that be the end of the story. But thats just my feeling on the issue

his visit to this country period is over 3 years late.

Anyway, I understand him not coming in 2001, he had to deal with his own country. 2002, still cleaning up from 9-11. 2003, busy hunting for Sadam, but he still could have come probably a year sooner then he eventually did.
The "protestors", which in my opinion have no idea what they were protesting for (I'll call them pose-testors *poser protestors) just make us (as in Canadians, not just Nova Scotians) look like rude, and un-welcoming allies. I don't support Bush, I don't even think he's very competent, but I'm not going to go protest against him coming to thank us for housing 9-11 refugees. I know I said it a few posts up, but most of the protestors were basically just going there either because they thought that was the "thing to do" or because they felt everyone else was going, so they might as well too.
They even had some (whom sounded like a, sorry for the poor reference, tree-hugging-hippie) woman on the ATV Evening News last night, and whenever Steve Murphy asked different questions, she would stutter and fumble for anything even resembling a decent answer, almost seemingly using a generic auto-reply "we are demonstrating the unanimous feelings of Nova Scotians, and the world." Ummm... hi... I'm a Nova Scotian, and I know a whole bunch of other Nova Scotians, that don't feel the way they do by protesting. I'm starting to ramble now so I'm going to close this up. I feel that if she is going to state a claim like that, then it should have some proof behind it, because even though a lot of people don't support what he does, or who he is, we certainly (as a majority) appreciate him coming here to thank us.
Just as a side note, I couldn't get over the tight security this morning. What is normally a 30 minute drive to Saint Mary's University, took almost an hour, with them blocking off almost every side street leading to Robie street (which SMU is at the very end of). Augh, and then they had both bridges blocked off, the harbour of course was closed to entry, and any surrounding harbour side locations blocked off to civilian travel, what a traffic nightmarel, lol.
