Alarm question

Hey guys, i did a search on pager alarms and i'm i just wondering, this guy quote me $800
for a prestige pager alarm including installation. Talking about needing to get new codes for the key, back up battery and so forth. so just wondering is $800 too much or is it worth it ?

I paid about 550 for my viper with alot of extras. If you don't care about the brand, check ebay for a $100 alarm that has more stuff than the one you're getting. I've seen one with pager, remote start, shock sensors, motion sensors, the works. Save the money for other mods. All an alarm does is one thing--set off the siren. It's up to you how much you're willing to pay.

IS the prestige alarm the city tuff version? Its hard to say if hes charging to much unless we know what features of the alarm you are doing. Are you doing a backup? remote start?

A general question about remote start. Because the 7th gens have immobilizer, there are two ways of getting remote start. Either duct tape a real key with the chip beside the ignition, or buy the bypass box. Now, with EITHER method, especialyl the bypass box, can your car now be HOTWIRED?! I mean, you're BYPASSING the ignition immobilizer!!

Immobilizer doesn't really do anything for our cars. I've heard of many newer civics being stolen with no problems.
