Angry OT: GTA students are a buncha pansies! (RANT) * Update w/PICS

I don't get it?!

Sure, I got off work early yesterday, AND I got off work early today because work was nice enough to let the entire company out 2.5 hrs early so everyone can get home....

But.... Why is it that UofT, Ryerson, and basically all other schools are closed??? Due to inclement weather? It's not THAT bad... I mean, sure, I feel bad especially for the night school people, but still....

Yes, I'll agree that the roads are pretty messed up; this was the first time I saw (on tv) a TTC bus slipping and sliding it's rear wheels as it could not get any traction....

But, I mean, c'mon, I remember as a kid walking through snow 1-2 feet high... I'm not kidding! 1-2 feet high!

This is like Mel Lastman calling in the army to shovel us out.... Will it be Miller Time?!

I was watching City TV today, and they had two good quotes by that Political Specialist guy...

"Toronto had a blackout, in the middle of a whiteout"... or something like that, referring to the power outage. BTW, my friggen work PC blipped out for about 1-2 seconds and rebooted because of it

" Lastman had a snowstorm, now so does Miller. Lastman had a blackout, well, we can at least call this a mini blackout. What's next?...." I couldn't remember the rest

---------------

UPDATE: Found these pics off ClubSI.com.............

Site here...clicky

Crazy *** snow storm where stupid U of T and Ryerson at first allowed classes to be continued.... they were sorry they did that!

This is when we left U of T, they were planning on continuing classes until FINALLY they decided it's too crazy!

On Bloor leaving heading to stupid DVP highway

What the hell!! Yeah right go on DVP my gf says...

Back in Scarborough...

The snow at my gf's house and street, look at that depth, like 45cm!!!

yah i was at UT today but they cancelled all classes after 3. dunno how you can drive so fast, i left school at around 2:30 and i couldnt get any traction at all! not to mention you couldnt even see 10 feet in front of you. fastest i could go was 20 km/h before i would start sliding all over the place.

That Army thing was the funniest ever...Ottawa might be full of crappy politicians but we know how to handle the snow. The Ice storm back in the 90's was a different story...that blew. I remember Mike Harris hiding out in Toronto like the POS he was...bastard.

I agree, too many things end up getting closed for nothing. Sure it snowed pretty good over the last 2 days, but it wasn't all that bad (I've seen much worse). You could still get where you had to go, I am proof since I managed to drive from Scarborough to my work downtown both days without a problem.

Anyhow, there was another funny quote on CITY TV news last night as well:

Mayor Miller: "We had to shut down city hall for the day since the heating system was not functioning properly after the morning blackout"

Political reporter: "You mean to tell me there isn't enough hot air at a city council meeting to keep you guys warm?"

UofT and Ryerson had a blackout, no power no lights for any of the students, thats why they were sent home early.

Actually, it looked kinda bad... Found some pics off ClubSI.com, but I still don't think it was so severe that warranted a shutdown of half of the GTA....

I've just put PICS ON THE FIRST PAGE...

It's true - if you're competent and alert drivin wasn't that bad. But I'll take a snow day any way I can get it.
On a side note, the day of that huge dump I got home and my driveway hadn't been shoveled. My brother came outside and went sledding, and so me n my other brother were left shoveling like 50 tons of snow (OK I'm exaggerating) just so I could get my car inside the garage.
