Does our car have a low fuel light?
It says it does in the owners manual, but when I start up my car it doesn't light up. Also, the other day I was very low on fuel (the needle was down to the red part at the bottom of the fuel gauge) and there was still no light on. Finally I chickened out and went and bought some fuel. But even when I'm low and on hills it won't come on. Do we have one? Have you guys seen it?

Yes it does. It's a yellow light on the right, just above the gasoline gauge. You must run completely low on gas, but in case yours is not working, just make sure you carry a gallon of extra gas and you'll be fine.
It only comes on when it is REALLY low. Sometimes mine will come on while I am driving and then I will get to my destination and turn the car off. When I turn the car on, sometimes the light won't come on until 10-15 miles down the road. Not sure how exactly it works.
70 cents a litre ? Try 1.17 a litre over here and BTW my light comes on at different stages. Sometimes really early and sometimes late. Damn things very unreliable. Just check you trip distance to be sure.

Our tanks have a total capacity of 13.2gallons. The light will come on when 2.1 gallons are left (or 11.1gallons wasted). 2.1gallons = about 60 miles.
It's pretty much the same for all cars, when the light goes on it means you have 2-2.5 gallons left.

When I first got the car back in November 2000, the light came on around 440 km on the odometer. I set it to 0 when I filled up. I checked it again a few weeks back and surpassed 500 km without the light coming on.
I haven't chanced any higher than that.
Just for the record, gas is 71.9/litre today for Regular... that's about 77.9/litre for my fillup of Super. Still got half a tank so I'll wait.. tho' it'll probably go back up by the time I decide to go.
