..... Honda calls me at work: "Your brake pads are down to 2mm.... $65". They said they wouldn't charge me labour to intall new pads because the took it apart to inspect it anyway. I tell them to go for it then she says, "We also have to machine your rotors because they are all scratched and scorched up. You don't want them squealing when you hit the brakes.... $106."
All in all, I paid $650 after taxes.... $380 (regular maintenance), $65 (brake pads), $106 (machine rotors). The only good thing that came out of spending all that money (besides fixing the car, of course) is that I now have another 650 aeroplan miles......

what i would do is put on some nissin/aem pads for 50 bucks and put on some cross-drilled and vented front brake rotors for 120 bucks.

That's cool that you spent the money there at Honda, it's your decision, but I'm with Tekniq and Spider on this. I would have bought the AEM pads and some Brembo's with the money you spent on OEM crap. At least your car is fixed.
yo.....48,000 km thats not to bad for brakes
I think mine are gettin close and we have 27,800km or sumptin like that on our car.......I don't care though since I have drove in on the highway speeding for a few long trips (excessive braking) and its worked excessively alot on the street hehe!!! Hopefully they last into the 30.000's
I love my car but I wondered how much canadain that stuff would be??? And those rotors aren't oversized? since i have motegi 14" silver rims they should fit!! How much does this improve braking performance...

$650, man thats nuts. Thanks for the heads up cause if they call me to do that I would just tell them to put it all back together and I will be doing an upgrade on my own.

DIY: Rotor and Brake Pad Install
AEM/Nissin Brake Pad + Brembo Cross-Drilled/Slotted/Zinc Coated Rotors + Brake De-Greaser + Synthetic Grease = $185
I have more time than money, maybe you have the reverse?

Money is one thing I don't have..... I'm going on a few long trips over the next few weekends so I really didn't have time to do the brakes myself (I work 9 to 5).
This is my first car and I'm determined to learn about automotive maintenance with it. I can build a house if I really wanted to, but ask me to fix your car and
I hope to do all the mods myself.
