Rep Power: 0 I was going down earhart, it is a really bad road, with speed bump size bumps on it , big *** potholes,etc.. it's pretty bad. so I'm doing about 30 which is pretty good for me because i drive fast. I look over and this dude and his old lady are looking at me going just as fast as me. They inched up, so i did, next thing I know, it's on. light turned red, so we stopped at the line. I was curious what he had, because I almost bought one. I hit the gas and so did they. I think we both had automatics. we were up to about 60, and nose to nose. this big *** bump was coming up, and we both said F*ck it, and kept on. I jumped at least 6 in in the air, because he did too. all of the crap in my trunk flew everywhere, anyway, WE both stayed on the gas, and I beat him by about a half a car before I said F*ck it. I already jumped a bump and I didn't want to mess my sh*t up. But when it happened, I just went for it, I don't know why. I guess that was kind of stupid. I didn't even expect to beat him. to me, My car really isn't even that fast .

GTs are slow as f*ck. When I first saw the new Celica (which was a GT) I can't believe how intimidated I was by it for it's aggressive look.

As a owner of 2001 Civic *AND* a 2001 Celica GT... I will tell you that the Celica is WAAAAAAAAY faster! How much faster? Well, when me and my bro take it out, we sometimes race... the Celica can beat the Civic, shifting at 5,000RPM! All out, to 60mph, it is already 5 car lengths ahead.
Whoa, you say? Did you know that Celica GT has 125HP at the WHEELS?? Civic EX has about 105HP... that's 20 WHEEL HORSEPOWER difference! Not only that, Celica is about 300lb LIGHTER than the Civic. Not only that, it has more aggressive gearing.

Rep Power: 0 Ok, maybe I read it wrong, but they both have autos. Plus it was just a GT, not a GT-S and if the GT-S is a 17 second car when it is auto, then how much slower is a GT auto? He probably didn't "smoke" him, but he probably had a really good chance of winning here.

i think our civic buddy is lying... as a daily gt auto driver myself. there is no way AN LX can smoke a auto gt at all.... the gt has more torque and horsepower to the wheel.. it also has LSD and the VVTI(like vtecing)... the lx has no lsd, no vtec, even if u have exhaust or intake... the ulev engine can't be match up with the gt....
no offense.. but don't make up bs to boost your level higher,, it will only drag you down......
i have both of these cars in my house..... the celica has a quicker launch and when u floor it on 2nd gear, u can hella feel the boosting.. but the civic. when u floor it.. the rpm just does high but it is accelerating hella slo........

the one you beat, specially on side streets even more with pot holes and bumps, IMO having 5 or 10 hp more
really dosent make that much of a difference in these conditions, and for you guys to call bs on this is in itself

Umm.. excuses me h0mo, when did I bash anybody's car? Read posts carefully before you say anything. I said 7th Gen Civics are not as quick as 7th Gen Celicas. That is a fact. If you are offended because Toyota made a faster car than your's... you got serious personal issues to take care of.

First of all........ nobody said he was BULL$HITTING about his race. I believe him 100% that he beat that paritcular Celica GT. I beat them myself. But you, sitting on your computer, assume that if one guy posts a message about how he beat a Celica, then it must be a faster car... well... if you know ANYTHING about drag racing, then you should know that driver counts. As in--you can get 18 second 1/4 mile time with a Camaro, if you can't drive it!! And have YOU driven a Celica GT? If not, then shut up and stop blabbing your mouth about how your car equals it.
