Engine size to tow a camper
Engine size to tow a camper
So I'm about to do an engine swap in my 93 hatch and in doing so I need to make sure I get everything I need. I need a list of a few things I would need to pull this custom camper trailer I'm making specifically for my car. I'm thinking I need at LEAST a 2.0 but that's all I'm really sure of. So my question is, would anyone have some advice?

Re: Engine size to tow a camper
A 93 probably would not be safe towing anything much bigger than a casket on wheels. I can't picture it, anyway.
Buy a car big enough and with enough power to safely tow with?
LBVS
What sort of trailer are you making? Size, weight, aerodynamics?

It has more to do with how much the car weighs. Your car weighs about 2500 lbs, and I wouldn't recommend towing more than your cars weight.
Like Ezone said, these things ain't good at towing. I was going to get a kayak trailer for mine, that is about the most I feel comfortable towing and I am quite experienced at towing with cars.
