Why do people put huge wings on they're cars?
Today i was driving around and I saw a 92-94 eclipse that was bone stock with a HUGE! alumiun wing on the back of it. This thing towered over the roof of the car. I don't get the point of these big aluminum wings that people are puting on they're cars. Does it make it faster? Is it so they don't take off the ground when they're doing 55 on the highway?!?! These are the same wings you see on 315 mph dragsters and now people are putting them on they're street cars!?! Does anyone else think bigs wings are just plain old stupid or is it just me?

Rep Power: 353 They are living in a dream world. They believe it gives them power to go over 200 mph. Obviously, sometimes, they look redicously funny, but some people like them.

Rep Power: 0 By searching, you would realize that just about everyone and their mothers have an opinion on them and most likely posted those opinions on this forum. In fact, there is probably a post where someone bashes them on the front page of general ramblings. Since you have been registered for no more than 6 days, I will address some of the questions you will ask without searching:
Injen or AEM, SRI or CAI: Pick whichever one looks the coolest, they all help very little.
One person is attempting an engine swap at the moment. It is possible it seems.
All show: 18s
All go: 15 or 16s
Little of both: 17s
Anything else you want to know about, screw searching. Hell, don't even read any of the current posts. Just ask because everyone here loves to help!
For anyone that thinks I am serious, though that doesn't really seem possible, I was just heckling the noob.

Rep Power: 0 i think a good lesson for new people is while its okay to ask a couple questions in one post, don't ask things on two topics like:
Hey what intake is best? Any girl racers? How can I improve my reaction time? any members from san jose? Where is my resonater?

Rep Power: 0 People like how it looks, so they do it. Why do people get paint jobs, why do people detail their cars, why do people get body kits. All for the same reason.

Rep Power: 0 They do it because they like it. Always remember that a lot of people are looking at your car wondering why the hay you put rims and exhaust on it. To each his own.

Rep Power: 0 Sometimes wings can look ok, it looks horrible when that is the first thing that people put on there cars, but if it is put on a car with a body kit and some other things it can be good

Rep Power: 0 No...a sad car I saw was a puke yellow 300zx with the wing literraly hanging on the last inch of the rear of the car. The pillars were verticle and the bottom of the actual wing was about 3 inches above the roof line....
actually the color of the car was the color of the bark on guy...the windshield had a banner that said EXXON on it.
Anyway. I'm not a huge fan of wings and spoilers. They have to fit the style of the car, or have actual function. because at 100mph they do actually do some good, hell even at 60 they do, but it isn;t a need. So it is all up to the loser, err the user.

Rep Power: 0 here is a pic tell me how fast is this m3 going around the corner
200mph hah yea rite but around 65-80mhp did the massive wing help yes
heres more info http://autozine.kyul.net/technical_s...g%20and%20Lift
Wing must be installed high in order to be benefited from the majority air flow. Escort RS Cosworth is right .... Cougar, well, seems to use wing as decoration only.
