hi 7thgeners! i hope you can help me figure out whats wrong with my car.
well i always drive through canyons all the time and just yesterday on the way home, I notice theres this banging noise on the back of my car. so went to pullover and check thinking that it might be the rear strut bar thats causing it. so went home and then took it out and guess what, still making that annoying noise and alil lounder i guess. i did check my rsx sway.. camberkit.. tried checking the exhuast but not sure. went down on my car and kindof push it upward on the rear passenger side and it would actually make that exact same noice only cant tell which one and whers coming from exactly. its like a bang noise not squeeking.. well some squeeking from shocks. but when i tried it on the driver side.. its not makin noise at all.
Iam lowered like 1 finger gap on rear with goldline springs with stock shocks and i have RSX sway 19mm stock bushing and stock endlinks. Today, on the way to work i tried to steer fast in canyons so i can figure out exactly if its the right or left rear that makes that banging sound but it actually doesnt make any sounds at all.. only after the steering to the left, and light noise after steering to the right.. so i guess its in the rear passenger side..
watcha guys think about this?
zzyzx thinks its my damper.. and that could be it..

Check that all the anti sway bar nuts and bolts are tight.
Then see if there is clearance between the sway bar and the exhaust pipe. People have reported clearance issue with the rsx sway bar in the past.
Lastly; Maybe a shock is bad and is bottoming out on the bump stop.
Have a friend or relative stand in the trunk and bunch the rear up a down and side to side while you lay on the ground trouble shooting for the noise.

endlinks are fine.. checked both sides and that could be it too cause the sound is coming on that side... but last night when i went down there, i was holding the sway... the exhaust but it seems like its not coming from those two.. can camber make that kinda noise? did check it too but looks fine to me. prolly tomorrow, i'll take out the exhaust and try to push upward agian and see if the clanking noise is still there.

yea.. thats what i did last night, called her and ask her to stand behind the trunk and try to point where the sound is coming from the trunk and she said its on the passenger side... but its wierd cause i've on this setup for quite awhile now and it simply started yesterday.. but uhh now that i remeber, my stock exhaust pipe (somewhere in the middle) hit a ramp coming out from a parking lot.. hmm maybe it bent the whole pipe and it starting to hit the exhaust.. dang it.

aiite.. i think i figure it out. got home and took out the tire and kinda look at the shocks.. at first it looks fine, until i checked the other side of the shocks and compared them.. this one has so much grease on it, i think it kinda blew not really thats why its makin that kind of noise.. i mean the car still sits right but i guess i really need a new strut.
does this really happen to the strut before its completly wasted?

aiite guys.. guess what!!! it wasnt my shocks.. but it was my endlinks!!!!
simply realize the sway was flicking when i push the car upwards and went down there, and realize it wasnt tigthend.. so basically it got loosed (cause of my drving in canyon everyday and having fun with it), was suprise thoe cause i only did 3 turns (the knot to tightned it).. or less then drove the car around.. and VOILA!! the noise is a goner! was totally suprise how endlinks are very sensitive. but yup guys, if you have the same problem then this could solve your prob!
so basically, it wasnt my shocks but then i guess i've been driving with a blown shocks for awhile and as other members says " many peepz dont realize theyre running on blow shocks"
welps iam getting d2's soon and see how the difference is.
btw, many thanks for those you replied and help!
