this maybe a noob question...

and i didn't do a search either!

the question is how come the fact that we have a returnless fuel system a bottle neck in civic performance, especially when talking FI. from what i understnd is that a conventional system has a return line to the tank and the pressure regulator after the the fuel rail. whereas on a returnless sytem the fuel pressure regulator is near/in the gas tank (:confused and the returnline is before the fuelrail and after the fuel filter (or is there no returnline at all. so how is this a problem that new injectors or new pump won't fix?

thanks for the reply i think i figured it out. In the conventional system pump sends gas up to the fuel rail, and to maintain the proper pressure, a fuel pressure regulator on the rail bleeds off fuel as needed. So to go FI and put more gas into the cylinders all you need is an adjustable FPR (fuel pressure regulator) if your pump is strong enough. Whereas in the returnless sytem having an adjustable FPR is essentually useless b/c the it is near the gas tank. so the ECU has to determine how much gas goes into the cylinders by changing the injector pulses. wow i solved my own problem!

Hey Suzi. Wish I would have come on earlier to help you with your question. I learned myself, recently, that a FPR is kinda pointless in our cars. So is an MSD...and obviously spark plug wires. Ina way it's kinds cool cuz we dont have to waste $$ on things that other cars might need before adding FI. It kinda works out good in a way.
