Audi R10 diesel wins P1 at Sebring!

Anyone else watch the ALMS race 12 Hours at Sebring?
It was a spectacular race. Audi won P1 with their brand new diesel car. We also saw the Lola cars, both P1 and P2, having some trouble (dumping oil into the engine and turbos at time, bottoming out, etc.) but holding up pretty well and really just having fun out there. Unfortunatly Porsche's two cars had a lot of trouble this race.
GT1 had some of the absolute best racing I have seen in a very long time with Aston Martin taking 2nd and 3rd from chevy. Corvettes took 1st and 4th but Aston really showed that they mean business this year.
And GT2 was also a great race featuring a Ferrari F430 GT Berllinetta and even two Spyker C8s.

This was an extremly good endurance race and I hope alot of people here had a chance to watch some of it!

Results will be up here:

Anyone who wants to talk about it post here.
Also if you are reading this, on SPEED channel the Malaysian GP F1 race will be on at 1AM EST so watch it.

[EDIT:]
How can a forum of car enthusiasts not care about one of the most innovative cars winning one of the most infamous races of all motorsport this year?

i read about the P1 car in car and driver a while ago, i guess audi was trying to make a statement about deisel engines to the US, and anyone watching their races, that desiel can be fast and clean burning and not just for big dump trucks and all that..

crazy that they won with the car though
when was it on? and will it be again?

I saw a tiny bit of it with the Audi's in front.

So Astons actually put up a good fight? Dang... I mean, no surprise at all about the Corvettes, they're always up there.

Is the Honda BAR team winning?

i love how the diesel is working.

The aluminum block'd diesel has been long overdue for automotive use. They started using them in personal aircraft just recently.

Good gas mileage, tons of power, and uncanny reliability.

Why did it take soo long to produce these? Probably the preference for gas powered cars i guess.

The funny thing is they would re-fuel early so the competition still only knows that they get better gas mileage, but not how much.
I can't wait to see more cars like this.

Pedro Lopes is an unknown quantity at this point
I saw the the Sebring race and about a half hour of the F1 race. Whats the torque on that audi because we all know diesels produce a ton of torque. I think it's going to be hard to beat those Renaults. Fernando Alonzo just slingshot off the line,he went from 8th to 3rd. Renault has the best launch electronics.

Alot of that was good driving too, considering they were holding more fuel than alot of the other drivers. it was just a perfect launch.
And the audis I think produce about 800 ft-lb of torque. I cannot remember the real #s.

the only thing audi needs to do now to get the car 'perfect' is fix the fender vents () and get some traction control programmed in.
But even as it is now, what an amazing car and an amazing feat for its first time out. Winning an endurance race on its debut! wow. congrats audi!
