why is civic so dumb
I only feel a strain when the a/c is turned on. Since I have a DX I can't watch the needle on the tach I would have drop so I don't know if the rpms go down. I have topped out gears with the heat on and it feels the same (90mph in 3rd) It seems to accelerate the same. About the blinkers and the windshield wipers causing a damper thats unheard of to me. You guys must have shitty batteries or something, I dunno. The only thing I've noticed is that you can't catch 2nd or 3rd no matter how much you rev it with the a/c on. But I guess thats normal...?

when the gas is pressed down moderately, it turns the a/c off with acceleration which would explain why you didn't feel a difference.
Um okay do you have a grand I can borrow for a shitty eBay D series turbo? haha. And there is actually a way to take that lag away when you press the gas. You know how you floor it and is in fact goes slower and then picks up. It because something has to go through something else before it goes somewhere. Hahaha, sorry I cant be more specific, some dude at the gearhead hangout showed me that he re-lined something and it took away that lag. I wasn't really listening tho...so...sorry.
yeah i have the same problem..when there is too many things going on at once and it doesnt have to be more then 1 thing either to make it slower...sometimes i try and jump up and down hoping it can make it sometimes...
Downed but not for good

I really think the electrical system is bad on our cars. I have never had electrical problems in a car, even in my '87 camery that I still can't see how it still runs(250+K). I've tried almost everything to get my healights to stop dimming alot when I use the heat/ac, besides getting HID or a new alternator (which I'm considering). Does anyone know a good alternator to replace ours or even if it would help?

I was just going to say that! Ever since I put mine on a few days ago when Im parked and i turn the wheel it idles louder, but I dont see any indication on the tach, must be too slight.
when I had my D17, my motto was "all go, no show". There was nothing I did that sacrificed my "go" for "show".
some of you should try some of my suggestions ... if you don't do it permanently, then at least try it out for about 2 weeks before you go back:
- gut your trunk. No subs, no spare, no cardboard mat, nothing.
- get lightweight rims. put your stock ones on if you have them ... 99 Si/03 EX is preferable.
- get some NGK iridiums and make SURE they are correctly torqued at 13 ft/lb.
- get a cai ... no short rams! ... and make sure your intake pipe does NOT touch the throttle body
- do your throttle body coolant bypass
- if you can, use a 0w20 or 0w30 full synthetic oil. mobil 1, amsoil, eneos, etc.
a good setup can mean a world of difference vs. a bad setup, especially when you are comparing the same type of car.
with my d17, I kept up with my friend's 01 dx k20a3 with cai, exhaust with my 02 ex. we raced and were dead even until about 65 ... then he pulled 1 car by 80/85. I had an ebay cai, ebay high-flow "cat" and rsr ex-mag exhaust at the time... also cf hood, trunk and 11.5 pound battery ;P

I can see it now, you line up to a car you're about to race, he gases it, and you hear the blowoff valve, and possibly purges his nitrous. Then you look over at him, give him the what's up look, turn off your a/c and prepare to race....lol..funny as hell but can't say that i haven't turned off my a/c while trying to race someone thinking it might give me an extra nudge...lol.

the plugs and coolant bypass don't do anything for more power. i agree with the small rims and removing non-essential items.

the girl i live with has a 02 LX Sedan Auto, she has the defroster one yesterday, and i was in the passenger seat and i wanted to see what would happen if i rolled up the window(it was already up like gearbox) and the fan speed dropped about half the speed and her windsheild wipers slowed down too. im sure the lights dimmed too but it was during the day so i couldnt tell.

Pretty bad when you go on a diet and race naked just to loose that extra 2 pounds.
Oh.... oh god... the visuals.... I gotta go.
