well gearbox, just let your car run for a while especially on cold days. you can sense that the engine would feel much smoother and it won't feel as rough after 3 minutes or so of warming up. dude am i making any sense here? i just have to say that lol.

I'd much rather have the lights dim and the rpm's drop a bit when I roll up my windows then what happened with my Alero.
Next time you see an Alero, or a Grand Am, Look at the windows! They put the trackers too close to the close, so it scratches the hell out of the windows, and burns out the power window motor.
We have it pretty good with the civics...for every problem I have with this car, I had 5 with my Alero.

It's just Gearbox. He messed with a very delicate balance in his car, and now, just like global warming, he's suffering the consequences. Keep the coinbox empty for that extra surge in power.
I must be lucky, Mine runs great, even with the AC on.
I should point out that compared to my 85 Nissan 4X4 (incredibly tough, but the definition of SLUG) the Honda is a BULLET.

That made my day!
When you have the Fan selction to Defrost (defrost/floor) the A/C pulley etc, runs even if you don't have the A/C button pushed.
I notice the power difference or drag, but drive stick which is alot more peppy than auto. Not sure..why anyone would buy AUTO with the engines 7thgens come with.

^^ mine does the same. and i think my pass window motor is on its way out. cause sometimes i have to help it back up. but im still under warrenty so honda should fix that... i just hope they dont try to blame it on my speakers, since i took off my door panel. and my speakers were so big that i had to modify the door panel for it to stay on...( 1 small screw on the inside of the door
) is there a way to fix this dimming problem? grounding kit? cause i dont even have my amp/subs in my car and when my bass hits on my speakers my lights dim. you cant notice it much on the headlights, but def on the inside, my headunit is like a rave lol. same with my guages. its annoying... when i hook up my amp its gunna be even worse. i was thinking grounding kit and H/O Alt but i dont want to spend money on something that isnt going to work. dont have money to blow like that.

i just dont know how to drive stick well enough and didn't wanna ruin a new car.
i have upgraded harness and ground wires and it dims. the dimming is due to the alternator not able to meet the hefty power demands of rolling up windows or using turn signals. when that happens, everything diverts to the battery. the dimming you experience is the power going from 14v alternator to 12v battery which ofcourse is a voltage drop,.

mine is a bit weak with the air on but I have never had a car that wasnt so I'm thinkin its normal. makes sense too as does the defroster and lights and other **** causing power loss. That renault I had used to have a charging system cutoff (illegal of course) and it really helped with acceleration, actually about the only thing that did really help. any engine power you use for things other then moving the car will reduce performance. its less noticable at high rpm because the loss by percentage goes down as power comes up. thats why 7thgen manual trans seem to have a hit in the power around 4k when the ac is on.

eh, i have a manual and parked with the headlights on, uping the windows causes the headlights to dim. the motor is just to small to handle the electrical/ ac demands.

Sell Honda Civic, buy Honda CBR, problem solved, no need for rear defrost or AC, already fast as hell and cheap to boot, plus you get some manual transmission experience...
Heh, I kid..my 2K3 Civic had the same problem. I have a Mazda 3 now, if I push all 4 power window buttons at the same time I think that the headlights dim only very slightly, but in a barely-perceivable way, no rpm fluctuations and thats running a 2.3L block, still a 4cylinder as well.

ha a/c is required where i live or i wouldn't be able to see out the windows. if i didn't need it i would already have the whole thing taken out.

ground wires are nice security so you don't get lights flickering and strange stuff happening. just makes sure everything electrical is working properly. won't help dimming thats an alt issue. and it helps if you sand the grounds for a better connection. i did a diy sometime ago.
I don't think you have anything to worry about. The rear window defroster draws something like 20amps. This current draw is going to be noticed on our Civics, and any other car with a rear window defroster.
If you are concerned about your car, then you should take it and have someone do an electrical system check. For the 60K mile check-up, an electrical system check is one of the things that is recommended by Honda.

yeah when the fan is set to defrost and floor the a/c light is on becasue it is a dummy setup cuz to defrost or drfog a window you have to take the moisture out of the it and that is what the a/c does.
