Yup the salesperson suckered me
OK, so I went to the Honda dealer just to see if they had any '06s. One did but they were still on the truck. The other didn't but I ended up buying a Civic coupe value package, which I do enjoy, especially since it's my first new car.
However, I'm really kinda mixed on this purchase, and here's why: The cincher on the sale was when I asked if I should wait for the 06 to get to the lot. The salesperson said no because the 06 would cost $4k more. So I got the 05.
However....
Now that the 06 DX is out, I see the MSRP on it, and it's NOT 4K more. More like $400 more. And it has a bigger engine, power windows and stuff and it looks cooler.
So yeah.. I got suckered. Let the buyer beware is what they say, and man I got it.

wow,
you definitely got fooled!
he meant if he didn't sale the 05 to you, its price would drop more than 4k after 4 months and at that time he would have to sale 5k less because he would be desperate.
However, now you bought it with its original price, he laugh. That is all.

well depends on which car u like better. if u like the 05 keep the o5. if u like the 06 then return it the following day. if it was me btw my 03 and the 06 i think ill keep my 03. but thats just my opinion.
and yeah it would be cheaper if you waited a couple more days. they need to get rid of the older models to make room for the newer ones.

Yeah I forgot to mention that I bought it like a month ago by now...
Sorry about that.
The only good thing I think is that the 2005 is proven and I bet most of the bugs are out of it.. and the 06 is new, so it might have lots of weird quirks to it. I won't have to deal with those.

Hmm naah its like just a little more from the 05 DX value package I got to the 06 DX manual. I'm staying with the cheapie model, I was going for the cheap reliable Honda. And not one of those other nasty Korean brands either.

sorry to put another thorn in you, but dealerships are looking to get rid of as many 05s as possible. in about two months, your car is already a year old (according to dealerships). that's why when we got my car (2002 lx), we got it in november of 2001. that way, most of the bugs in the car's system were worked out, and it was considered a new car for 13 months! (got it the day after thanksgiving.)
Yeah next time I'm definitely going for the head end of the model year.. Even though it might cost a little more or have higher financing..
Well live and learn I guess! By the time I'm dead, I might know not to do stupid sh*t like this again.

if he told u the price difference would be 4000 i would tell them that i would want 4000 taken off my price to make up for the difference u told me or there is no deal and u want a return for the new model with no pentally

either way dont keep it now that the o6s are out you should be getting mad deals on the 05s , there old and the new ones are out, california does not have a cool off period if your state allows it i would take it back, and if you need to make a deal, trade it in or whatever and get the 06 but yes he screwed you,

one question...are you comparing your sticker price to an actual new car's (06) sticker price (including all markup and everything)? or are you comparing what you paid out the door to the msrp on an 06 dx? because say if you are comparing your otd price, lets say 14.5k, to the msrp of the new car, say 15.0k, then you have to factor in the tax+license+markup into the price of the 06. and the markup i've seen is about 3 grand over msrp. let us know which price you are comparing to which price.
the salesman just meant that they are selling the 2005's for about 1,000 below invoice and if you get the 2006, it will probably be msrp or close to it. thats where the 4,000 difference is. also, msrp's went up on the 2006 civics across the board. for example: msrp for the 2005 civic lx sedan = 16,825 - msrp on the 2006 civic lx sedan = 17,860

hey man i would probably keep the 05. I feel the 05s look MUCH better than the 06 when it comes to the outside of the car (non-si)
you are better off with the 05, plus modding it is so much easier!! i wouldnt complain. you got a nice civic that looks nicer than the new ones. the rear bumper is like a less-gay tc on the new 2drs and the front of the 4drs is nasty looking.
