03-04 rsx type S, or 06 SI?
zero to sixty is one second slower, I say signifigant because they have the same hp and well its my opinion.
They wanted better gas milage for the civic so the gear ratios are different than the type s, at least that is my theory, why else would they do that. The new civic is also heavy as hell.

Umm who told you its one second slower to 60
I don't even think its slower let alone 1 whole second. If it was 1 second slower it would be slower than the si of the current gen which is only 160hp.
I heard it on the forujms, then searched google found some Tests-7.5 sec 0-60
where as the rsx 02-03 is like 6.5
and the 04-05 is around 6.8
The 02 si does 0-60 in 7.8+
It may not be that much slower, but with the added weight and different gear ratios, I can see how it is slower. The new si of course will prob handle alot better than rsx.
0-60 times vary a lot anyway, I am sure the new si is pretty fast, but I would still rather have rsx-s.
I wouldnt even trade my 04 ex sedan in for the new si if I had to actually keep it.

You have been misinformed. 05-06 rsx S > 02-04 RSX -S
02-04 rsx -s are the same
05-06 rsx -s are the same
05-06 rsx s have shorter final drive and 2002-2005 civic si gearing.
The 05-06 has more HP than the 02-04, and it does better on the 1/4 mile slightly and I'm certain its better to 60 because of the shorter gearing. They have other changes over the 02-04 rsx s.
The 2006 civic si has the same final drive as the 05-06 rsx S, integra Type R. It has same gearing for gears 1-5 but a taller 6th gear. The 2006 civic si has a similarly powered engine with better powerdband(more usable power). It also has a LSD and sticky tires, with 2 piston calipers. Revised suspension with the steering gear box mounted low unlike the previous gen civic. Rear suspension is redesigned and the chassis is stiffer than the DC5 and civic. RSX S is still based on the current civic. It is a superior car in terms of performanace. The Si is only about 30 pounds heavier than the current rsx s.
I love the looks of the 2005 Type S it looks stealth. I saw a white A spec yesterday.

I just got those off of car and driver or some other magazine website, yeah I got the years mixed up, but those were the given 0-60 times. I was wondering about the times cause one article said that the new 05 rsx-s was faster than the previous models because, like you said, the gearing is different and it has 10 extra hp. I thought they may have made it heavier, but that does not make sense, its not like some guy at honda just decided to throw a barbell in the trunk. The difference is only .3 of a second between the two rsx-s, but witht the 06 si around 7.5, there has to be a reason. That is why I said signifigant.
I am going to do some searching and see what I can find on the 06 si gearing, cause I still like my theory about different ratios and better gas mileage.
I know that the new si will have better handling, but have you gone to a dealer and seen what it is like under the hood and the front of the new vic?

does the Si's throttle response really differ from other cars since its controlled by a wire?

being that it's the latest civic, i don't think it would make a really drastic lag right?

I did not drive one, I did feel the gas pedal, and it was weird. I feel myself getting older, and sounding like old guys talking about how carburators are better than fuel injection.

The perfect car for me would be a tsx with a tuned engine like the type S and Si, track tuned suspension, LSD and skirts.

yes big lag. When I was driving, I thought oh well you can just tighten up the cable. Now I see you can't do that. It really is slow taking off compared to mine. And really doesn't feel fast either. My car has alot more power if you're cruising in 4th and press the gas in gear. This new one won't go until you press it enough to downshift.

Automatic or Manual?
All Autos will have a lag if your crusing and all of a sudden stomp on the gas. But I don't think thats cause of the throttle though.
