Dad's friend has cool idea.

My dad's friend use to race with his Vega. But he sold and he is planning on filling the void with a lil project. He said he wants to try and put a big block v-8 into a civic. He didn't say what year or whatever....but i think that would be cool to see. Im not sure if anyone has tried it or done it....but i think that would be sweet.

and ford focus hatchback. but the civic have small engine bay clearence, not saying it cannot be done, it'll be much work and gonna need lots of money along with it. overall, i dont think dropping a v8 into a civic isnt worth the time/money.

Your friend's dad is going to have to push the firewall back about a foot and a half into the cabin. Hope you don't mind sharing space w. a cylinder or two, heh.

depends on how much boost and what big block you use and what is done to it. A 396 in civ would own a boosted k20

I know a guy with an old bug that put a V8 in the frint, he drove the car from the back seat. Problem is that as soon as you go half throtle, you will twist the civic frame. TO do that he sill have to build a tube frame for the civic, basically make it like a pro drag car with a civic body. The civic unibody just is ment to handle torque like that, or any torque from the rear tires for that matter.

I have a full-out 383" chevy small block. If anybody wants to add about $20k to the purchase price of the motor, go for it!
Sh#t, i'll even throw in a tranny and rear!

Yea those swaps are fairly easy in a Miata, they have a nice size engine bay due to being RWD. But that engine weighs almost as much as the car does, I couldnt imagine trying to turn that front heavy beast, I bet its a blast going foward though

I still think the weight to power ratio is overwhelming, for expample a k20 boosted with higly modified. Or even a rsx, skunk 2s all motor is 9 sec wiht no boost or n20. Imports rule, domestics suck.
