why would it be awesome when a tuned K20 puts out just as much power

Why not? It'd be different, and probably more reliable over time.

It would be different, Interesting even.
Also their is less demand, so the price might be cheaper than a k20.
Also an accord ex v6 has 240 HP @ 6250, 212 torque @ 5000 with no mods

The type s k20 is 200HP

The one cons for the v6 would be having to fab up every thing to fit, because to my knowledge no has done this and their are no motor mounts either.

will be tough fitting that under the hood. theres already fitment issues w/ the k20. its definitely a lot of custom fabrication work and a lot of $$$. THEN you have to worry about the whole balance of the car getting thrown off be the heavier motor in the front.

you say a "tuned" k20 would have much hp as a accord v6, but then tune the v6 and see what you have, you start off better. plus torque from a v6 is better, also mods would probably give you more hp than any 4 cylinder. no to mention how many wrecked accords there are, so engines would be cheaper. i think it is a great idea.

Akutenshi is on a distinguished road
what mods would have to be done in order to compensate for the weight balance? (didnt even think of that one. lol)

I doubt that's possible considering that my 4 banger Accord doesn't even have enough room to take the V6. Yes, the V6 Accord's have a completely different engine bay than the 4 bangers, including subframe parts. I think if I was going to go through that, I waould just put the NSX V6 in there. People have done that before, on 6thgen's though, don't know of any 7thgen civic's with the NSX motor.

If you are going for cheapness, the fitment problems will molest you.

btw, there is some punk in a four cylinder accord('99) that thinks he can take me. Is this even humanly possible? i heard the v6's were slow in that generation

you can definitely take a 4 cylinder 99 accord especially if its an auto. my dad used to have one and it was like a pig. if you know how to drive a 5speed you can beat the accord in a civic.

Humm... the four bang auto Accords (in the last generation) are a little slowwer (my butt dyno says about 0.5 second in 1/4mile) than my '03 civic EX manual was (stock) the manual Accord I would make out as a drivers race (if you are retarded and he's a pro, he might win). If he has a newwer Accord ('03+ with a 4 banger (auto or manual) stock for stock I give it to the Accord. The five speed auto gives it a big push with the down low of the K24. So yeah it's possible, but if he is challeging you, he's stupid and probably doesn't know how to drive anyway. As for the V6's being slow, I think that is realtive to the current V6 Accords which runs like a raped ape compared to V6 Accords from those previous gens.

Thing is Accord are not geared to be "econoboxes" like civics and thus they have shorter gearing to help offset their wieght and suck the gas down. I know I already beat my '03 civic EX with my auto 4 banger Accord (but it's an '04)

Thing is though the four banger Accords are pretty hard to extrac any power from, i/h/e won't do much other than take your money and make you car annoying (I know lol).

V6's are heavy.
The only cool thing I could think of to do with an accord motor is to take a K24 block (inline 4 accord, TSX, Element, CRV motor) and put a K20A (Type-R) head on it, add some higher compression pistons. Along with a Type-S or TSX 6 speed Tranny, It would make great HP and Torque.

good luck on trying to get it to fit.......besides, our chassis's were not designed to support that amount of weight.

Didn't someone post that Cavalier on Ebay a day or two ago w. that enormous big-block transplanted into the hood. If some can fit a 396cu in. engine in a Cavalier, they can fit a V6 in a Civic..

if you mean, just to drop the av6 engine in the 7gen engine compartment, it wont fit, that's that reason why it hasnt been done. Also the fact, the k2o swap is much easier and defined.

If you had enough money and were industrious enough you could start cutting into the firewall. There was an old Accord up on Ebay a while back w. a V8 swap. I'd say at least 2 of the 8 cylinders were in the passenger compartment.

Anything can be done with $, but to get a v6 in the Civic you'd have to get a ton of fabrication work on the engine bay...k20's are the only series that will drop in i believe...and the k24's.

THese cavaliers with V8 and Accords with V8, you guys are missing something, they are all probably RWD!!! The Accord Engine is a FWD engine tranny combo. The V6 won't fit because it is mounted sideways in the bay, if you wanted to conver the car to RWD and put a RWD engine up front, that is poosible, but to fit an Accord eninge up front you have a problem in that the engine won't fit between the two front tires.

There was A tibby a few years ago in Sport Compact Car that had that. They where automatics though. At the end he put one engine in drive and the other in reverse and spun the car. It was fast and brutal they siad, I forgot the track times for it though, I think it was in the 9 second range if I remeber right, maybe 10's? I know it was last in hadnling though, so unbalanced.
