Question about 02' 03' HONDA Civic Coupe DX models........
Okay..... I bought a fairly new (USED) 2002 Honda Civic Coupe DX model. Hardly any miles on it, and it runs decent. Just have 2 questions maybe some of you people could help me out on.....
1) When I have my fan kob on the bottom all the way to the left in the 'off' posistion, I still get lots of air flow through the vents on the console blowing on me.... the faster I go, the more air who blow out...... if the **** for fan is on off..... then why is all that air coming through?, is this normal?
2) The car doesn't have A/C...... So I was wondering how much trouble it would be, and how much it would cost to put an air condidtioner in the car....
thanks for your help
.....

Is the air that you are talking about coming out of all the vents? Because the far left and right vents you can close. To my knowledge, when I dont have the recirculate feature turned on, it vents air in from outside. If the recirculate feature is on I get no air flow. I have an ex with air conditioning, so I don't know if you have this recirculate feature. It is the far left button under the radio looks like an arrow going in a circle. As far as adding a/c to your car, the company I used to work for installed aftermarket a/c units in all kinds of cars. There has to be a demand for the a/c kit in the aftermarket workd first, If there is low demand then no company is going to make a new kit. I do not know if there is a kit for our cars. Check with the dealer to see if the know of a company that installs aftermarket a/c. I costs like $1600-$2000. It isn't cheap.

Yes, I close the left and right vents, but you can't close the vents above the console..... I find it hard to friggin' breathe when the re-circulation button is on.... WHat do people use that button for anyways....... It's just annoying when I'm driving 60 mph, and have my fan off, I got to get warm, or cold air blowing on me..... just a strange feature.
The dealership near me said $700 to put it in...... I'm hearing two different things now....... I mean, it can be done.
The recirculate button is used if you actually HAVE air conditioning and you want to recirculate the already COLD air inside the car on a hot summer day. But since you bought a DX . . . well

I guess there needs to be a little air flow, there a bit of wind noies in my car.
Is it really hot where your from? Cause I only use the AC when I use my defroster(case it comes on automatically) and on long trips. Other than that I like to drive with the windows rolled down.
Many people have told me that it isn't as reliable as the AC from the factory.

-Turn Car Off
-Turn Temperature **** To Full Blue (All the way to the left - Counter-Clock Wise)
-Turn Vent **** To Off (All the way to the left - Counter-Clock Wise)
-Hold Down Air Recirculation Button As Well As A/C Button
-Keep Both Buttons Depressed and Start Car
-Keep Both Buttons Depressed for 7 Seconds
-*AC LIGHT SHOULD BLINK*
You will now have control of your A/C regardless of what setting you are in, to revert back, simply repeat the procedue

it get the same thing with air flow on my DX, bud. Not sure if thers anything you can do. Onthe A/C $700 is about right, I've heard higher, but, start looking around, you can pick up an A/C system like on ebay every once in a while for cheap. then go have it installed at Honda. Besides that there you go. Welcome, since you're new around these parts. And thanks for choosing DX, we are some of the rare ones aroud here. You will find everyone has everything, but rare DX's. Well i have a DX if you haven't noticed.

It took a few times to get it to work, but I got it figured out. You have to have the key in the ON position when you first push the recirc. and A/C then you start it and hold both till the A/C light goes green, NOT when the recirc buttom blinks.

it is designed like that...when you have the windows down a little bit will cause the air blow more...very handy especially during winter...since the heater is too hot
