The EX has a higher resale value. Earlier EX models come with painted mirrors and other body parts, larger wheels, 6 speaker cd player, ABS, stabilzer bars, moon roof, keyless entry, power mirrors and I think floor mats standard. If none of these things mean anything to you, get a different model.
IMHO, to get the most out of an economy class car, you'll want a manual tranny. Dont throw any money at it to make it faster, its not worth it unless you go big.
LX SEDANS have ABS, not LX coupes.......just clearing that up, at least for 04+ anyways
I was in the same dillemma, either the Si (canadian, US = EX) or LX (coupe though)
I chose the LX, i test drove both, could not feel the difference in power at all.......the only think i really wanted was the alloy wheels so i ended up picking up a set off 04 Si (cdn) wheels for $500, problem solved
and I saved the almost $3000cdn incl tax difference in price..........
sunroofs are nice but i HATED the civics roof, thats what really put me off i think, its SO DAMN SLOW to open!!!! its as if the motor is 30 years old, its brutal, playing with it at the dealer annoyed me so much. Also the fact that it slides in when it opens, not slides out like the teg and rsx...........
get the LX!

^^ The main reason a Teg/RSX and some other cars' sunroofs slide out is because it won't fit in the remaining section. Which basically translates to more rear headroom.
ABS is the main reason I told my dad to get an EX model. I'll keep on saying it, it's definately worth it for an everyday ride. Track enthusiasts don't like it as much, and if I were them, I'd steer them clear of a newer Honda anyway. The sunroof was a perk. It's ok and a little weird because the control is in the corner, but its great to have in the summer or whenever you want more air to go in/out of your car. Another thing was the VTEC. It's slightly better I guess, but because I drive an auto, you really have to mash the gas to feel anything.

I own a DX and its slow, to make it fast is by the way you drive it to keep a constant or increasing speed without adding more to the gas pedal. Don't ask me how that is done but its all base on the laws of physics and inertia.
^^yeah i agree with that, my civic is plenty quick when I drive it normally, but when i floor it and try to ring out every ounce of hp from it, then thats the time when the car feels slow.

yuou can defiantly feel the power diffrence between the vtec and non-vtec power, expecially if you have a VAFC or VAFC II, and an after market tach is cheap and easy to install one just go go autozone and get on for like 20 only 4 wire to hook up. or go on ebay and buy a guage cluster with a tach and put it in. go ex or just go dx and do a head swap. that'll run around 500 for everything.

The LX-G has power heated mirrors and ABS on the sedan.
Either way, I say go for the top of the line. It has ABS & VTEC for sure!

Thanks guys. You've been helpful. Somebody mentioned something about 01-02 LX and DX not having stabalizer bars.
Did you mean that bars are thiner or LX just does not have the bars at all?
Are you talking about both the front and rear?
I am planning to lower the car on either Koni/Neuspeed-sport or Koni/Eibach Sportlines. So just wondering about these stabalizer bars.
