2004 EL tail swap onto 2002 civic sedan?
Hey guys, as some of you know my car got hit last night, i'll probably need a new trunk, bumper and tails. I was thinking i could do 2004 Acura EL light swap since i need a new trunk, bumper and lights anyway. Will it bolt right up? I'm assuming it will. Plus i wanna add either my existing rear Xenon lip to the EL bumper (if i get it) or a new Kaminari rear lip. Will this work on the EL bumper? Let me know what you guys think...thanks!

your car got hit???? I didn't read this. Is it in the London Peeps thread?
I would think that swap would be incredible but I'm concerned about all the stuff lining up. might though. I'm still considering the EL front end on my coupe. Even the lines on the side of the car match up perfect.

Check out the thread, "Shoot Me Now!!!!!!!!" in Canada East.
Yeah, the ELs are hotter cosmetically on the outside, the head and tail lights are soo nice!!!

Summarizing my "what is an EL" thread for trunk swap:
Just swap the rear corner lights and the whole EL trunk setup, it will fit perfectly. The only problem you will have is that there is no keyhole on the EL trunk - you would have to deal with just popping it from the inside or you could get cocky and install remote keyless trunk release. If you have an aftermarket alarm, the latter is not too hard.

His trunk was already shaved to begin with .. so he'll just have to either fix the emblem holes or live with an emblem. Though my question to you Telly would be.. why does he need to swap the rear corner lights??
Hell I've seen a riced out EL which has TYC rear corner altezzas (chrome) in place of the stock .. but not the middle as that part isn't made. Gawd, I wish I owned a camera some days, so much rice and nice cars I'd liked to grab a picture of.

You don't NEED to swap the corners, but the 2004 EL corners are super sweet, and the 04EL inner trunk lights won't match ANY Civic sedan corners. Unique.
I don't get why you're bringing up emblems. You can just shave the EL trunk lid when you get it to remove the emblem holes, cause it doesn't come painted anyway (even if it did, he'd have to repaint to match the rest of the car).
I saw that EL with the altezzas. User's ID on ClubEL was highland. Nice mods, but over the top.

Yup, yup yup, the 2004 lights are fawking sweeet!!!! Soooo nice!!! I already had the key hole shaved on my trunk along with the emblem, so all i'll need to do is shave the "A" emblem off. I need the new corners anyways cuz they are cracked on the left side and completely smashed on the right. I think i need the EL bumper cuz the 04 EL corner lights bubble out more than my 02. So...................., 2004 EL bumper, trunk, inner and outer lights. One more question, will my Xenon rear lip fit on the 2004 EL trunk? It looks like it to me...body shop guy may have to tinker a bit, but looks like not much if any....
Thanks a lot for your help guys, really appreciate it....i think it will look so sweet with EL lights in the back, make people wonder if it's a civic or EL. aha haha, i love it!!

The Xenon lip should fit with some minor mods.
Between your rear conversion and a certain member's planned front conversion, what's a genuine EL to do?
Make a trunk, that's what.

nope, straight ssm. You'd just have to put them on, that would be it. If my Xenon rear doesn't fit, i might just get a rearl El lip or something smaller and change up the front too and i'd sell the sides and get something different. Gotta wait and see what's going on first. The adjuster is gonna look at my car on monday at 4 pm to give an estimate.

Good luck with that man, and I hope you encounter the hit-n-talk-n-run guy again. I'd say one smack with the back of your hand for each dollar of damage should do it.

Yes ELs are damn sexy! THe insurance appraiser was just here 20 minutes ago, he decided to come over today and look at the car. So far, 3500 in damages but they said that my rear bumper is fixable and they didn't say anything about replacing my left outer tail. It's not broken, but it's cracked, and i want new. Soooo, if i can't get my bumper replaced with a new one, i can't do the EL swap... Fawk!!!
