My buddy has the rare red cbr600 F3 with a carbon fiber exhaust. IT is a 97 with 22,000 miles on it. He wants $1900 for it. Should I buy it as a starter bike. It has new tires, new chain, new brake lines and pads, and like I said a crabon fiber exhaust (forgot who makes it).

22,000 miles on a CBR is ALOT. Great starter bike thought. But dont be suprised if it turns into a money trap. Or just breaks
Rare or not thats alot of miles. You could buy a good bike for 3,000 that would have half the miles and run better.
But I havent looked at the bike just my .02

2 things to remember. 1. Its a Honda, as long as he took care of it, it'll last you. 2. For $1900, what do you expect.. I say ****** it up quick, esp. if its a starter bike. Bikes are not that expensive to repair IMO, but it does depend on whats wrong with it.

yeah, it is a good starter bike and you ca't really beat 2,000 for a bike anymore. look at it this way, before you start having problems you'll probably want to upgrade anyways. I'd go for it
you can buy my F3 man. I did an engine swap in it from a bike that was in the moto gp. The guy rebuilt the engine, port and polished, oversized pistons, i've got yoshimura exhaust, k&n filter, lowered the gearing, has brand new RK chain and front/rear sprokets put in 1,000 miles ago. It's a fast machine and a super sleeper. the engine since it was rebuilt has around 3,000 miles on it.
hit me up if your interested and we can talk numbers.

the body is a '95 with the purple/white/green scheme, nothing but compliments from it, i live in arizon and i have only seen this bike one other time down here out of all the people i know and ride with and he's my buddy! so yeah i would say it's more rare then the red '97 u were looking at.

Bikes are expensive to fix especially if your paying to have it done or if you have to use OEM parts. 22,000 is a lot of miles on that bike but $1900 is a decent price. Id be prepared to rebuild the engine or tranny if you start riding it alot.
on a 97 is a pretty old bike. Bikes dont hold value like cars do.
I would Say any where over 12,000 miles is way too much
A good investment if you put a little more money towards the bike. Its 2004 pick up a 2000 or something.
