Question Newbie to Honda

Hey guys,

First of all, you guys have a really cool website here. I have a 2003 toyota corolla, but in the market for a new car. I was thinking of the honda SiR or a toyota Matrix XRS. Well I went over to matrixowners.com and got some good info on the XRS's. Now I just need some info about the potentials of the SiR's. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

P.s.

On the matrixowners website I found this really cool vid of an XRS with CAI and exhaust vs. a Lexus ES 300 .

The engine modifications that you can do to any import is basically the same. The only difference is that you'll need to look for the car type for that said part.

I/H/E
turbo or supercharger
cams
safc or vafc
pulleys
clutches
etc.

well u have alot of options.. basic stuff like intake, header, and exhuast and also hondata which is an ecu modifiction that raises the rev limiter and even out the a/f..

next is nitrous which i would also suggest u already have the i/h/e done

and then boost... u can go with a supercharger like i have or turbo from greddy, cybernations, revhard, and other various companys.

how fast u go is determaned by how much u wanna spend

I should say that the K-series engine (in the Si(R), RSX, RSX type-s, TSX, Accord, Element) is HIGHLY responsive to mods.

A while back, import tuner did a intake dyno comparison of all the intakes out for the k20, and they all made close to 18 whp increase.
(although i don't know how reliable a source import tuner is.)

Welcome to the site! While I'm sure you will enjoy either of those cars Im willing to bet you will return to this site anyway. We are a much funner group of people than the Toyota site members!

Good luck on your decision.

Welcome! Well... If you plan on modding the car, Honda is the way to go. The k20's (engines found in RSX's and Si/SiR's) are very high revving engines that are equipped on performance oriented cars. The aftermarket knows that so there are a plethora of offerings from multiple tuners.

With that said, if you don't like the stock engine, you could always get a RSX-S engine (it has 40 more hp stock than an Si/SiR) which fits inside the Si/SiR and mod from there....

I like the styling of the SiR as well ... I think it looks really sweet and a lot of people here on 7thgen have made some really nice looking ones.

If you're looking into MAJOR power i would rule out the matrix, and the corolla. Not many companies provide aftermarket parts for them, well.... not as many as do with hondas.

Many options are available for your needs. Superchargers, turbo kits.. nitrous, the normal bolt ons... internal work, head work... and the list goes on.

Post up more specific options that you're looking into and i'm sure that someone would be glad to go into more depth with you.

oh yeah, Welcome to 7thgen......
well... there is actully alot of parts for corollas now... it's not as many as the civics, but enough to make the car alot faster..

for example..

Supercharger = TRD
Turbo Kit = Stafford Fabrications
Nitrous = any company, it's universal
bolt on (intake, Header, exhaust)= AEM, TRD, KBD, Injen, DC Sport... more
internal work/head work = Wiseco Pistons, Crower Billet Connecting Rods, and big bored kit from Monkey Wrench Racing

and alot more......

Hmm... if you dont mind the look of the Matrix, and funding isnt too bad, I would get the Matrix, or wait for the XRS Corolla, then slap on a XS Engineering Turbo kit... over 200 WHP right there!
