ok i need to vent. there a re a lot of great tuner cars out there. evo's, wrx's, supras, rx7's, s2000's etc.. here is what i don't understand. a few little stories.
while at work one day this like 65 year old grandma comes in in a 99 ebp si. after rotating and balancing her tires i asked her what made her choose the si? her answer-i liked the color.
another wasted b16.
the other day while waiting to make a u turn i look across the street and there is this little mallrat teen princess with 4 of her shopping queens in a silver evo. like that car is ever going to see a boost controller or bov now.
and i see tons of eg hatches on the road just begging for a b20 frankenstein swap or any b series for that matter.
or how about the guy who bought a nice brand new teg gsr to put a bike rack on. is that motor ever gonna see 7800 rpm or a nice set of toda cams. no. wouldn't a ls have sufficed but even that motor just begs for a turbo or all motor setup.
i guess what im trying to say is if you wanna be a granola eating tree hugging hippie or some other lame excuse for a driver buy a toyota echo, prius, honda insight, or a chevy aveo. leave the f#@$*!% tuner cars alone.
ok i feel better now. sort of.

I would love owning an EX or even a car with a turbo right out of the factory... but here I am with a DX
why? because I could not afford the Factory Performance EX that was also on the dealership lot back then. I could barely afford my DX...

Dude...look at it this way....lightly used pre-owned cars down the line. Yeah that Evo isn't gonna get flogged...but I bet you get it for a song in 2 years when she trades it in. Grandma likes the color of her Si. Great, when she is ready for a new car there will literally be a "Grandma driven, always garaged" Si for sale. As long as they are maintained, it keeps barely used cars in the pipeline.

Well the import scene despite the last few years wth the couple F&F movies and media on this scene is still relatively small and I for one am glad. We all mod to be unique and to set ourselves apart from the "stock" counterpart and its actually good that there are others out there with cars that they probably dont know could wield great potiential. Besides some people just want it left the ways it is now. One other positive thing is that when Im gonna be looking for a older model car to tinker round with Ill look fora grandma who took it nice and easy on her pretty blue SI.

every single GS-R ive seen is driven by OLD ladies. maaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaan
i would be like "i trade ya, the auto is easier on your old bones than shiftin away all the time like that. dont wanna break an arm or leg with the clutch sticks!"

damn well put man!!!
So because someone isnt going to drive their car the way you feel it should be driven, they shouldnt own it? Thats not right. People have the right to purchase whatever vehicle they want, for whatever reason they want. It is just a car. Granted, some of us may be more serious about our vehicles than others, but it's still just a car. I'm sure you have stuff that other people think you are using improperly, does that mean you shouldnt have it?
Adds to the sleeper look
You know what? If I bought an EVO or STi, I'd put a bike rack on it.

my dad is over 50 and drives a GSR. He doesn't rag it out as much as 90% of the drivers on here (including myself) would but he will still step on it once in a while. he bought it because he was tired of driving a truck, he wanted something fun and fast. Now when he gets rid of it I'm buying it from him. I can't wait until he sells it.
Oh yeah, and that one car got him addicted to Honda's, now he has the GSR, I have the civic, and mom has the 04 3.2 TL

im not flaming but its thier money. if that lady bought it for the color, then let her be. prolly the evo was a gift or the boyfriends car, and those hatches you see that could use an engine swap, people bought for better gas mileage. its thier money, so if they want whatever who cares.
I just hope they all change their oil so the rings and bearings are still nice when I get my dirty little hands on their "pretty color" car in a few years. We get the same thing in the motorcycle buisness. People buy their, 1st time rider, daughter a 600rr because she likes the honda wing on the side and the cool lights. She trades it in on a pretty new cruiser when her tastes change and another canyon carver gets a sweet set of wheels. I'm workin on getting a 2000 cbr929 in the same kind of deal right now. That or a 600f4i that the previous owner of my bike bought. Trust me, this is a good thing, these people dont know how good their cars or bikes are. I got my desert bike for a song cause the guy who had it before me was a novice and didnt know how to ride an open class bike. Sold him a 400 quad and litteraly traded the money from my trashed 250 into a near new 650. it doesnt get any sweeter then that.

If you think thats sad then listen to this...
My best friend's dad owned an auto shop and some old lady came in with a brand new white S2k, he husband bought her for their anniversery, turns out she hated manuel trans and asked to get it converted, as shocked and sad her dad was that this car was going to waste he did it... he called me out to see it before the lady came to get it, I almost cryed.

So then what?? Is every car sold a waste because its not modified to a level your liking?
Seriously thats an assinine argument. Some people say the car is good enough for them stock, and on second thought that's probably why they bought it. You don't need to modify a car to be satisfied with how fast it is, its all relative anyway and if you're going from A to B, as long as it moves, most of the general public doesn't care.
I guess my dad's Bimmer is wasted because it doesn't have a Dinan Supercharger, Hamann aero, BBS wheels, and an H&R Coilover kit. Yet somehow, he's having a blast with his "wasted" car, as a bone stock 184 HP wagon.
I don't see how a Civic hatchcrap is some spectacular thing. Why spend more on the engine than you did to buy the damn car. Some people think about buying the nicest car they can buy, rather than buying a POS then trying to make it fast and still be a cheap POS looking car. It might fly as cool in highschool, if its really well done it'll fly in college, but after that... forget it. Its just a honda hatchback, regardless of what you got done to it.

all i have to say is...there wouldnt be tuner cars without these people. if everyone modded out their evos and civics it would be considered mainstream and therefore lose its appeal.
i for one have no interest in buying a mazdaspeed protege cause well, all of them are the same
but still i get what you're saying and in part i agree

IMO, cars aren't wasted unless they're not driven at all. Just because in your mind, you believe certain cars should be modded this way or that way, doesn't mean everyone is in the same mindset as you.
Don't hate on grandma and her "pretty color" SI!

i agree that older people and the people that are not into modifying cars would pick a BMW over a EG civic with a b18 swap.
however if you go to any meet where there are people that actually care about performance
(drag racing in this instance, since i know your all about the cones
)youll see cars full of bondo cuz they could care less that there 92 hatch doesnt have a $7000 paint job or a GPS navigation system. all they care about is how much more its going to take them to run 12's.

Exactly. . . what Boiler's trying to say is. . . . why would any Joe Schmo care about doing those things? They buy the car because it's inexpensive, reliable, small and easy to maneuver. . .
. . . oh wait! That's it! Hondas are ECONOMY CARS.

Never know what people are just by judging their looks. I went to Speedzone today to do some cart drifting in Slick Trax and I was racing with four 50 or 60 year old guys. I spun out into the wall twice while they never spun and they were tailgating and passing me like a motha. I got OWNED.
