I am not sure how long the Civic will stay in the number 1 spot. The car is underpowered and the suspension on the 7th gens are not the greatest. With the Mazda 3 in showrooms, Corolla Xrs, and Chev Colbalt knocking on the door. The Civic will have some major competition.

honda has been so focused on making an suv/truck that can challenge the ford, ram, and chevy trucks that they forgot about all their other cars. while domestic companies are making more compact cars better , honda isn't making any changes......it seems like they are forgeting the cars that made them popular and succesful

No wonder the Cavalier, Impala, and Taurus are on the list, they are rental car companies favorites. You will see a crap load of them sitting at airport rental car lots throughout North America.

"Civic sales were down 4.3 percent last year, while Honda Division's overall car sales slipped 2.7 percent."
"In 2002, Civic sales had slumped 5.6 percent, while Honda Division's car sales fell 5.8 percent."
Honda is beginning to see a slump in sales. However, they offer less incentives than most every manufacturer at an average of $1,096 per vehicle. Toyota's average is $2,393 and GM's is $4,106 per vehicle.
This information was taken from the Jan. 12 issue of Automotive News.
