what do you all think of the hyundai elantra gt hatchback?
i was at a drive-thru at mcdonald's today and i was behind a black one that caught my eye. personally, i think it looks just as good as the si and would look pretty mean lowered.
just out of curiousity, when i got back home, i looked it up on hyundai's website and was surprised to see the numbers it puts out...138 hp and 136 tq, all for only $14,000.
if i was gonna buy another car, and was dirt poor, i would seriously consider going with this instead of the civic. of course, there's always the question...what's the aftermarket support like for this car? and there's always the fact that it's a hyundai.

my friend has that car and im sorry but its ugly imo. its one of those cars that looks good on a while and then it starts to look like shiet. well he don't really clean the car and keep it well groomed as much anyway so i guess if he did i guess it would look aight. the back of it is weird, it looks like a fang or something.
Not a great car. Personally I wouldn't be thinking about getting one. My friend had a 2001 Accent GT he could not even find altezzas or an intake for it. Resale was very low when he traded it in.
Hyundai's are really good cars then what they use to be. Before i would never be caught driving a hyundai. These past few years hyundai has really improved their cars. I work at a hyundai dealer and i get to see all the problems that people come in for so i see first hand how they hold up to customer abuse. And the warranty is the best in the US. 5 year 60,000 miles and that covers EVERYTHING, and 10 year 100,000 mile for the engine/powertrain. So for 14,000 that car is a steal.

we fixed plenty of modded cars, just because u mod a car doesnt mean it voids the warranty
edit: and the warranty is so good to earn peoples trust, im sure all you know how crappy hyundais use to be. but now they up with honda

I like the hatch, reminds me of a volvo. I tried to convince my GF to buy one but she ended up buying a used cavalier convertable. You've got to love that SC2 kit on the blue tibby.

i'm not complaining in anyway about my vic, it's my first car and i love it! i'm just pointing out that there are other cars out there that might be a little higher on the food chain which we never would've given a second thought to.
and i defintely agree about the stigma that hyundai has, but as somebody on this thread pointed out, they are getting better every year it seems.
anyways, here are some pics of the car that just might eat our vic for breakfast.

Hyundai is what it is. For cars that costs 10, 11k can really call them a POS? For what you pay and what people expect I think Hyundai is just fine.
The new Accent isn't cool looking BTW.
