Appologies to blur. After actually calling up dan from supraforums aka fyrearms (toyota tech development employee) about the topic, I stand corrected. My earlier statements were based on information he released earlier this year. Recent updates couldn't have been said any better than how blur put them.
Dan from TTD: "A few weeks ago, Elmhurst Toyota had a big grand opening formal dinner. The president of Toyota (yes, Japan) was at the dinner. He told our general manager that there WILL be a new Supra. He used the word SUPRA. Expect it as a 2006 model year car. Probably show up in showrooms in spring/summer of 2005."
"Honda unveiled a new NSX this past week. Toyota reps noticed striking similarities in the rear decklid/quarter panel/bumper arrangement to that of THE CAR THEY WERE ABOUT TO UNVEIL. Toyota decided to pull their entry from the show, and employ a revamped rearend styling treatment to the car before it is released. Styling is said to be "Coke bottleish" as employed in the MKIV Supra. YES, it was a new Supra. YES, it would have been released in mid-2004 as a 2005 model. YES, they are going to surprise everyone with engine choices."
Appologies again blur. I typically look before I leap, not quite sure I leaped first this time.

I can't wait to see what the specs are going to be. I would say that I'm going to start saving for a deposit for one, but more than likely its going to be like $45K. So I'll just look for the MKIVs that people will be selling to get the new Supra.

You basically made no sense, summed up what some people have already said, and made a general statement about the engine size.
IMO I don't think that any car will replace the MK IV Supra. That was one of the nicest and sexiest looking cars ever made. The 2JZ Turbo was also one of the best engines ever made. Also I think that engine sounded so nice. I also don't like how car companies are going away from turbos. (ie 350Z, MR2).
they already said no turbo, they said a choice of two engine sizes i forget if it were 6 and 8 or 8 and 10, they gave out very few minor details, earliest its commin out is in 2005 as a 2006 model unless they delay it for the skyline release, no turbo with the choice of two engine sizes, and any pics/specs found anywhere are just rumors because they aren't releasing any specifics until close to the release date but its definately comming back, personally i'm waitin for the 2004 prelude thats commin out as an 05 model, its gonna be a nice car and not too expensive
i doubt under 40k unless its got a really weak engine, the skyline is gonna be around 75-85 msrp and you know how mark ups are, the last supra was sellin for 50+ if i remember right
I personally don't think it will be living up to its predecessor. A large reason the Supra line was haulted after 98 was because of the mkiv's pricing, so I would expect toyota to aim for a more, dare i say it, economical car as far as price/performance.
yeah i think it'll be like the Z series, the 300zx was great, they brought the 350z as a cheaper version and personally i'd take the 300zx over it anyday but they were lookin for affordability, and now that u said that i think the supra will probz be cheaper and not as good as the mkiv but still not too bad and probz popular

you cant have the word supra and sports car in the same sentence with out turbo in the engine imo. you can still make is somewhat affordable with a turbo dammnit. this probably isnt making much sense but u get the gist.
yeah the whole reason people love supras are cause they can upgrade the turbos and have a 900+hp car, i mean you can do it with any car if you really wanna but supras are known for their high hp modifying potential
I sure wish my car was newer
