Question what will happen after engine swap?

I just want to know can it still be legal for engine swap if you purchase the engine legally?
do you have to update some numbers at DMV? smoke check still pass? any other problems or trouble?
thanks

Well if it's the K20A2, then I don't see what the big deal would be. It has been done by many (Base RSX and Civic owners) and it's a USDM engine so emmisions wouldn't be an issue. I wouldn't worry about the DMV or insurance, you'll just end up getting screwed by both of them.

The K20A swap has also been done and could be an issue with emmisions. Hondata has a flash for the ECU that makes it run on 91 octane so I think that would help.

As long as your K-series motor is the SAME YEAR AS YOUR CAR OR NEWER You will be fine.

You CAN NOT (legally) put a 2002 K20 in a 2003 Civic.

just swap your motor you will be fine, if its a usdm motor then there is definatley no problems and im pretty sure that same year or newer rule is only applied in some states. Keep this in mind, if you blew your engine you would have to get a new one. no changing anything at dmv or emissions tests or anything like that besides i dont think your gonna get stopped for running a stop sign and the cop is going to ask you what motor you have in there because you ran the sign faster than other cars

HondaLuver will become famous soon enough
if you get a k20a you really wouldn't have to worry since it says honda on the valve cover. you can just tell the officer that is the stock engine that came with the car...
