Indeed. . . . the aftermarket support isn't as large (but it's growing) for the domestics because most domestic owners are more interested in performance than looks. (Read. . . MOST)
And what I mean by that is, you won't find the over-abundance of brand names and part variations for the domestics that the imports have. However, you WILL be able to find what you're looking for if you own a domestic.

yeah, no joke...you can literally build an entire chevy engine using only the stock block and aftermarket parts, and not only will it be (generally) reliable, unlike unstable little rice rockets, but it will be worth the money and the effort put into it. Then you have the undeniable fact that with the money it takes to put a 4-banger into the 10's, you can have a domestic running 8's, and it'll be safer. When it comes down to it, anything with less than 6 cylinders that isn't COMPLETELY race spec is nothing more than an econobox.
that was the most retarded thing I've ever read. What an asinine thing to say.. The chevy 350(5.7L) has been around FOREVER, and GM has ensured that most new variations maintain a level of part interchangability with older variations. That engine ALONE probably has as many parts available for it as the entire honda engine lineup.. dare I group other manufacturers in there. Not to mention, for years and years people have been swapping engines in domestics, and it's not half the hassle. Most domestic subframes are already setup with holes for 5-6 of their mfrs' engine blocks. The domestic market is ancient and as such has an ENORMOUS part selection. Honestly... who says that?

You've gotta be kidding me no parts...
My buddy just built an entire 406 SB, the only thing in the whole drive train that is stock is the Block. The next closest thing is the LT1 manifold that's modified to fit the block. Other than that... it's all from the aftermarket.
Who ever said that... pull your head out of your ***. There's mail order places the size of a small town that only sell domestic parts.
Take an LS1, change the air box, the exhaust and get a better cam... and you can be making the factory rated crank HP, at the wheels.

my uncle has this sweet last gen mustang cobra, white, magnesium wheels, that thing HAULS ***. He's working on his 68 GT fastback too.... mmmm yummy.
his 68 GT fastback
Aftering owning domestics for my first two vehicles(97 cobra, 00 ram 1500 that NEVER went to the shop, EVER) I would say finding ANY performance part was about the easiest thing you could ever do. You can go in any parts store and they have all the domestic stuff I needed in stock, where as they have to order more import stuff. I'm not knocking either domestic or imports, but for the most part I would be more than happy driving most domestics.
any stock domestic car would pwn a stock import

Ok... lets do this.
You can get about 1100 HP out of a Chevy SB, you can pull 1100 HP out of a Nissan RB26DETT.
They'll both run about 8 sec in a 1/4.
There. It's even.
So everyone shut the **** up about this stupid Import vs. Domestic pissing contest and move on. We're never going to get anywhere with it. It's 2 different mentalities for different kinds of cars... just get off of it... cuz we'll never have an answer.

It's not domestic vs. import. there is no argument. the domestic market has more parts available, end of story. Nobody is arguing which is better, because neither is better. It's just a COLD HARD FACT that there are more aftermarket parts available for domestics. end of story.

Just so there's no confusion about my last statement regarding the amount of aftermarket parts and accessories. . . .
That is EXACTLY what I'm talking about, Sadboy.

Take away all the ricey bullshit, and you're left with MAYBE 1/5 the parts support for import performance as there is for domestic. I was just trying to make a point about what seems to be more important to many import buyers. (Not TRUE performance)
I'll be the first to admit (I have been building a SHOW car) that I've got shitloads of parts on my car that do nothing but slow me down.
But, at the car shows it all draws a crowd and sometimes yeilds me a trophy, so it's all good.

OMG, you're right!I was just thinking why he's never seen aftermarket support for domestics. He's probably never been to any real performance shops, yet.
I sure wish my car was newer

It wouldn't make a difference? Well who wouldn't wanna change their p/w ratio from 7.7 to 7.6?
Now if only I had $51,585... and wow, I just read that the Z06 gets better mileage than the C5. The Z06 gets 19/28 and the C5 gets 18/25. More hp, better mileage, a stock cf hood, and that awesome paint job? Yes, please.

I agree that an import vs. domestic’s argument will never end, and I agree that both have many GREAT things about them that many people love. I do think that many people are cocky and know, that they know, that they know, what they like or prefer is better, hotter, quicker, faster etc. etc. etc.
Fact is, people have different taste, opinions, and desires for there car, for example, I could care less how fast my car is, (no really I don’t care if your ¼ mile is better then mine) no matter what, the speed limit is still the speed LIMIT
Domestic guys always talk about how much faster there cars are, and I could really care less.
I also want to make my car, a show car, the process of doing so is preferable to me instead of having a 10, 8, sec. ¼ mile
