Hello all,
Looking to become a Civic owner. I am currently looking to purchase a 2006-2009 Civic Si Sedan. I was wanting to get input on things to watch out for or check during my test drive and inspections. I know there is a known issue with the clear coat on these models. Please let me know I currently have my eye one with 120,000 miles. It looks clean and not modded from the pictures asking price is around $7k. I would like to be well informed before I go test drive.

As long as you go for K series engine, everything should be great.

Though it is rare, the R18 engine has had enough issues with the blocks cracking and leaking coolant, to warrant a major recall from honda a few years back. So some of those engines could potentially have issues.

Yes the Si engine (k series) is a solid engine with a timing chain instead of a belt. The timing chain tensioner was a weak point but I think only an issue for modified engines running upgraded cam's. At 120k miles the suspension components are probably going to be worn, bushings and ball joints at least.
