Has Honda fixed whatever was making the 8th gen civics' brakes wear so ridiculously fast? Debating whether to get a new civic or get something else.

We've definitely had sticky calipers on our '09 but I'm not sure that's the only cause, or why the calipers tend to stick. Whatever it is there seem to be lots of complaints out there about it in the 8th gen years and my beloved and recently departed 2000 civic didn't need brakes done anywhere near as often. Same drivers/driving habits, same rough driving conditions (salted roads 6+ months of the year), etc.

If you think a good mechanic is expensive, try hiring a bad one

Several years ago Honda started offering a replacement brake pad (different part number) with a different compound and longer life for dx/vp/lx trims.

No change for EX, though? That's what we have and would buy.

I really want to say the physical size of the pad choices should be the same, so you could probably try any of the part numbers available for any of the above trims and see which one lasts for you

But is the price worthwhile?
