I'll stop here since your obviously convinced. What I said was that if you had bought OEM parts you still wouldn't have spent 2000 dollars

now why would i change the head gasket if there ment to go for the life of the motor, if the engine is not overheating then the METAL gasket wont warp and leak so why would i spend more time and money for something that i dont need.

Re: pulling the engine and freshening it up

most of us already gone through one HG, around or before 100k...
mine was loosing coolant through the overflow reservoir, not overheating. definitely gone
few, very few, happy campers that have 200k. (being the reason I said "me hope")

You do not know what you do not know.

so why would i spend more time and money for something that i dont need.
You pulled the engine out of the car. I sure wouldn't have. Waste of time to me.

Some people learn from others.
Some people have to whizz on the electric fence for themselves.

Re: pulling the engine and freshening it up

Not sure if I would have changed the HG either... I definitely wouldn't have pulled the engine for that work though. Some people do find it easier. I'm not trying to give you a hard time portland. I'm just disagreeing on the use of some of the aftermarket parts. I've seen the results

Too bad most management can't do remedial math.
Or see past the first column of numbers.

Hi, I'm new to this forums and the civic brand..Had an accord 96' and the first thing I changed was the timing belt.. I spare no expense when it comes to changing such internal and pivotal part of an engine..All was OEM...there is just no way to trust any other brand of parts for such crucial job.
