VERY unsatisfied customer Hey guy, Im really pissed off right now. I had a shop put on my random tech High flow cat. Turns out one of the pipes was welded at to much of an angle and its pushing my cat back pipe(my greddy pipe that connects to the cat) pipe a little to close to the underside of my car. The shop says it shouldent be a problem becuse there was about an 1inch and a half of room between the to. So I take a look and every thing looks alright. So I get every thing all set and leave and everything is good u know, it sounds a little bit louder wich is what i wanted. So then im driving home and it just starts make this HORRIBLE rattling sound. So im like WTF thinkin it will at least go away after a little bit. BUT NO, every where I drive it dosent stop, even at IDLE it just keeps goin then randomly it will stop for about 30sec then it just keeps going. Im very unhappy with the workmanship of my Random tech cat and I think that a **** *** welding shop could have welded a better piece of metal. But I called the shop back and they told me to bring it in on monday so I have to wait 2 more days with this horrible sound coming from my car. Its just really frustrating U know i spend like 300$ to make something better when it just makes it worse. This is one mod I wish I never made!

Rep Power: 0 It's alright, relax, it happens to a lot of people here, just take it back to the shop as they told you, and let them fix it, I believe it should be OK.

Rep Power: 0 That sucks. When I got my exhaust installed, I had to live with that for a couple of days before another shop fixed it. Cost me extra money too for somebody else's poor craftsmanship. Hope you get yours fixed soon.

Rep Power: 0 Im sorry to hear that bro, hopefully the shop can fix that up for you. Its good to see posts like this so i know in the future what to get and what not to. I kinda know how you feel though, b/c i have a rattling problem of my own. On the back bumper of my R34 Octane fiberglass kit, the mesh is rattling against the kit. It is only on the right passenger side but its annoying as hell. I can see that it is loose and how it is making the noise, however Im not sure what to do to fix it. What is used to clamp down wire mesh to body kits that can help me with this problem???
dam, i always thought those cat converters were one of the top line brands on the market.. =\
but you should post a thread for a warning of some sort since theirs already 2 people on this thread that has problems with the cat WITH professional installation.

I think the cat itself is a good brand. The problem is the mounting flanges. They cat itself is a universal random tech cat. Random tech just welds it to the piping that they designed for our cars. They just did a crappy job of designing the piping.

i had a random cat on my 1990 crx si (b16a), it was the universal cat , cost like $225 and the shop welded it on, never leaked. ran like hell. the cat is good, it sounds like you need to have that flange cut off and have them weld it together (if they can weld good). worked for me! just my .02 -- Jeremy

Rep Power: 313 Wouldn't surprise me if it was the cat - those are the least reliable converters, according to the crowd at HT. Carsound (which is made by magnaflow) are supposed to be some of the best high flow cats out there for the price.....
