Hybrid (not the car) Intake

ok, well it just so happens that I have all the luck. My car is a '02 EX MT.

A while back, I decided that it was ok to trade my K&N FIPK II (ex/mt) with my friend's AEM CAI (lx/mt) ... he said the piping was the same thing (even though it isn't) ... for the ex/mt's lower intake piping is larger that the upper section ... sorta like the lx/mt's ... but the lx/mt's lower section is very short.

Anyway ... ok, so I'm rollin with an aem cai lx/mt... for my ex/mt.

Ok, so today I thought it was an ok idea to trade an ebay aem cai rip off ex/mt for my friend's Injen CAI. It fit on his car PERFECTLY. Ok, so on Injen's website, it said that the LX/EX parts were the same ... so I thought ... what the hell .. I'll actually get an intake that is made for an EX.

So we goto install it ... 1.5 hours later, we are STILL trying to fit it... and he has to go ... and it still doesn't fit. So I take it home and search 7thgen for any possible answers. My closest speculation is that I actually have the AT version ... not the MT. Great ... so I have the Injen CAI AT .. for my EX/MT.

What do I do? ... I take the upper LX/MT section of the AEM CAI (LX/MT) and attach it to the lower section of the Injen CAI (DX/LX/EX - AT) ... and it fits. My fender well sticks out a little, but ... it fits. Stupid, but it should suffice.

Conclusion: anyone selling an Injen CAI (MT!!!!!)?? ... and ... anyone wanna buy an Injen CAI (AT) ??
