Rep Power: 0 Ex Auto Short Ram Intake
Hi all -
I just got an 02 EX Coupe, and it's an Automatic. I looked at AEM and they say that their cold air intake is not available for Ex Autos, but instead you can use a Short Ram Air Intake (SRI). What is the difference between the two, and will an SRI make that much of a difference?
Thanks for any info

Rep Power: 0 CAI suppose to be better then a SRI.
CAI sucks Cold Air while SRI sucks the hot air under your hood.
However, AEM found out that the SRI actually creates more HP then the CAI in an automatic, so they decided to release the SRI, but not the CAI.

Rep Power: 0 To make a long story short...A short ram is better for an Auto VTEC than a cold air, why...because a short ram gets you more power in the higher bands...4000 RPM to Redline. And a VTEC will power up at 4000 RPM. A cold air will get you lower end power...better for manual trans, but still.....there really is no difference. You might get 1 more horse if your lucky with a cold air. And that's about it man. I have been around these things for years, long enough to know that they came out with cold airs because of the market and sales. They add an extension to a short ram, call it a cold air intake, claim that it gets more horses and more torque and in reality, there is no difference...except in price.
That's the key right there...they say they are better and make more power, so they can toss a bigger price tag on it, and people will buy it thinking they are so much better than a short ram. But they are not, they are the same !! Hope that helps man.
