I need help with understanding HID headlights

I recently bought a honda civic with HID's on it. One of the HID bulbs is out and i am not really sure how i should take care of it. The wiring on it looks very odd like it was just done in the guys backyard and i have no idea if it is a 5k HID or 10k HID or whatever. Can anybody give me some information on how to figure this out? i can post pictures of it if necessary

See if anything is written on the bulb. What color is the light? Pics might be easier.

Does it look like any of these:

If you think a good mechanic is expensive, try hiring a bad one

Re: I need help with understanding HID headlights

Halogen bulb, or true HID? (That bulb chart above is all Halogens.)

If you are trying to figure out which part of an HID setup is bad, just swap parts from the side that still works. Bulb or ballast swap first to see what will make it work, then wiring problems if it has been hacked and cobbled.

If you are trying to match up a non-standard (blue) Halogen bulb, it's probably easier to just get another matched pair.

Re: I need help with understanding HID headlights

If it were 5k, you'd have a nice white light. If you had 10k HIDs, you'd be lighting up the road all sorts of blue, borderline purple, and ****.

And yes, post pictures. We have NO idea wtf you're talking about otherwise
