Rep Power: 0 1990 Honda LX has very strange front drive
Hi Honda Civic folks,
I have this old Civic LX that had its front suspension collapse. What was revealed in this was a very strange drive train. Our parts store said it was something they had never seen in 35 years. Not in the books. You can see that there are no ball bearings in this drive, instead are these three drive pins that fit in the enclosure. This is external to the transmission, you can see the extension that this three-part yoke fits into.
So what is this?
this is what comes out of the tranny. Nothing inside except specially shaped grooves. Must have needed a big blob of grease
These are the three pins that drive the wheel. It fits into the first pics enclosure
Kind of a standard fitting on the left, where it attaches to the wheel. The weird pins are on the right end
