Rep Power: 0 DIY Headliner replacement
Hi guys, I know many of us have had a sagging headliner issue, so here's how i went about repairing it on my car.
Tools needed:
screwdrivers
wire brush
fabric
headliner spray adhesive
First start taking off the sun visors, clips, dome light, handles and hooks that are screwed into the headliner.
<a href="http://s1148.photobucket.com/albums/o564/Nima_Rouhani/?action=view&current=IMG_1924.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i1148.photobucket.com/albums/o564/Nima_Rouhani/IMG_1924.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>
<a href="http://s1148.photobucket.com/albums/o564/Nima_Rouhani/?action=view&current=IMG_1925.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i1148.photobucket.com/albums/o564/Nima_Rouhani/IMG_1925.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>
<a href="http://s1148.photobucket.com/albums/o564/Nima_Rouhani/?action=view&current=IMG_1923.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i1148.photobucket.com/albums/o564/Nima_Rouhani/IMG_1923.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>
These clips can be turned 90 degrees and pop off:
<a href="http://s1148.photobucket.com/albums/o564/Nima_Rouhani/?action=view&current=IMG_1926.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i1148.photobucket.com/albums/o564/Nima_Rouhani/IMG_1926.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>
<a href="http://s1148.photobucket.com/albums/o564/Nima_Rouhani/?action=view&current=IMG_1927.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i1148.photobucket.com/albums/o564/Nima_Rouhani/IMG_1927.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>
<a href="http://s1148.photobucket.com/albums/o564/Nima_Rouhani/?action=view&current=IMG_1928.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i1148.photobucket.com/albums/o564/Nima_Rouhani/IMG_1928.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>
Take off the pillars, these are held by clips.
<a href="http://s1148.photobucket.com/albums/o564/Nima_Rouhani/?action=view&current=IMG_1929.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i1148.photobucket.com/albums/o564/Nima_Rouhani/IMG_1929.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>
The headliner should now pull out toward the windshield and out through the passenger door.
<a href="http://s1148.photobucket.com/albums/o564/Nima_Rouhani/?action=view&current=IMG_1936.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i1148.photobucket.com/albums/o564/Nima_Rouhani/IMG_1936.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>
You should now have this:
<a href="http://s1148.photobucket.com/albums/o564/Nima_Rouhani/?action=view&current=IMG_1930.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i1148.photobucket.com/albums/o564/Nima_Rouhani/IMG_1930.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>
Peel off the fabric being left with this:
<a href="http://s1148.photobucket.com/albums/o564/Nima_Rouhani/?action=view&current=IMG_1931.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i1148.photobucket.com/albums/o564/Nima_Rouhani/IMG_1931.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>
you will need a wire brush to remove the foam backing so you can install the new fabric.
<a href="http://s1148.photobucket.com/albums/o564/Nima_Rouhani/?action=view&current=IMG_1932.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i1148.photobucket.com/albums/o564/Nima_Rouhani/IMG_1932.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>
Once left with the clean board, wipe it of with a clean damp cloth.
I used 3m Headliner adhesive $20 at Oreillys auto store and Black suede for the fabric. You can use special headliner fabric but i picked the suede.
Spray half the headliner and wait a few minutes till its touch dry apply material and spread the fabric with your hands, when done repeat with the other side remembering to leave a few inches to fold over the sides.
when done it should look like this:
<a href="http://s1148.photobucket.com/albums/o564/Nima_Rouhani/?action=view&current=IMG_1935.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i1148.photobucket.com/albums/o564/Nima_Rouhani/IMG_1935.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>
Install again the same way as you removed it.
<a href="http://s1148.photobucket.com/albums/o564/Nima_Rouhani/?action=view&current=IMG_1937.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i1148.photobucket.com/albums/o564/Nima_Rouhani/IMG_1937.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>
thanks, i hope this helps you do yours!

Re: DIY Headliner replacement
Hey I was going to do this and everything was going well but as I was removing the headliner I realized there was a wire glued along with the headliner. Did you have that as well and if yes how do I take care of that?
