need help with basic d swap

I trashed my 2000 d16y8 and have a running 98 d16y8 parts car that im taking the motor from, to put in my 2000. Im not sure exactly how to go about a few things. i think i just use the distributer from my 2000. but there is a hose on the top center of the intake on the 2000 thats not on the 98. can i just use the 98 intake and parts? or do i need to use the 2000 and plug stuff? I think there is a small differance in the head where that hose goes too. Sorry, ive been searching but cant find this. Thanks noob

check first if your state does not penalize for using older engines in your newer chassis. emission laws. if they find out in certain states, you could get into trouble.

I think I just use the 2000 distributer and use the 98 intake and related stuff. I guess I'm wondering if all the electric and stuff will plug in and work or if something is different? Looks pretty basic. Thanks for any help

Re: need help with basic d swap

now that i thought about it, they are the same generation. There might be small differences from year-to year, a lot of them might be in electrical wiring. Possibly OK? Unless someone better knowledgeable on 6th gen butts in, of course.

I think its just pick the parts that fit, but im not sure about the electric or that hose on top of the intake by the head. Or if my 2000 wiring will fit and reach and use the same plugs and stuff on the 98 intake. Or if the plug on the distributor is the only difference with that. Everything looks very similar.
