D16 Performance help
Alright everyone im new to this site, names Gabriel, im from the LA area and im new to engine performance and I recently bought me an ej8 came with a d16, im interested in upgrading the engine internals. i want that power without making a swap.
My problem is idk where to start, and i also have a few questions like if I were to upgrade certain parts would other parts need to be adjusted or upgraded as well?
Also how much can that little motor handle in terms of power, compression etc?
I want to upgrade it so that it pushes about high 200's or low 300's whp.
I would appreciate any advice and help, what shops can help me buy parts possibly install for a good price?
Once again guys thanks for the help

start finding out which engine you do have (written where the engine mates the trans)
below is located right above your post and are called sticky so they stay on top and people will see them before posting :

Re: D16 Performance help
Yes, it's a single overhead cam VTEC.
I think getting high 2's low 3's from a non-turbo Y8 is probably a pretty big ask. You might want to rethink what your trying to do there.

Re: D16 Performance help
why? Ive heard people take those motors up too 500hp. But whats recommended save my money for a b16 swap and build from there? B series are more reliable right? those motors could take more heat than my motor right?

Re: D16 Performance help
With our type of civics its actually the K20 we want. B series is an earlier version. you can still use them but they dont have as much "umpf" as the K series. for the mods, I am at a loss. Ive been looking for stuff all that is specifically for the EX none for HX but supposedly they are the same thing with a different tuning. if this is true then tear that thing apart and mod up. as far as 200 hp goes good luck without a stand alone ecu
I will put this question out there as well. Is the d16y2 the same as far as mods as the d16j8?
d16y2 is HX
d16ja is EX
